Interesting to see this CVR(T) is road registered but its headlights have not been repositioned to comply with Road vehicle Lighting Regulations. Seems to make a mockery of one of the stated reasons DLVA gave for not registering a Stormer, recently....
Do they need repositioning on a 1978 vehicle!?

They look like Chieftains to me.

VCR Act = Violent Crime Reduction Act. Realistic Imitation Firearm. There are sections on Procuring, Manufacturing, sale of Etc. All Basicaly Boll**ks, BUT, we ALL have to abide by the Law. It's a bit of a Nause, but you can legally comply with it fairly easily........:undecided:
And also quite irrelevant to someone in Australia!
-
I'm sure Chris didn't mean it that way - I didn't know what you were painting either!
On looking I can now see that you've posted it in the American forum, but to those just viewing "New Posts" it isn't entirely obvious ... :undecided:
Andy
Yes Andy is right, sorry if it seemed a bit harsh - but it's difficult to know how to answer a question when you only have half the info!
I can't really help with ww2 US colours, but in terms of paint suppliers, if you find something the colour you want then you can get matched paint made up pretty much anywhere, otherwise try the dealers on milweb.

Something makes me think the Mk.1 Wide-track in fact had the rotating draught (as narrow-track ?? , I don't have this model to have a look). From memory - there is a upgrade to draught (this may have made them a Mk.2)So this is something to be aware of..
Wide-track trailers FV.2381 were manuf. by :-
1. Reynolds Boughton
2. Universal Engineering
3. Viking Trailers (I think Mk.2 only)
4. Arrow Construction Equip (they made the Mk.1 , IIRC some were up-graded to Mk.2 or Mk.3 & 2 struck out)
5. Parotow
6. King (a handfull or more)
I had a Mk 1 Widetrack with a rotating eye. I also have a Mk 3 manufactured by Viking.

Try and get a copy of this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chieftain-Rob-Griffin/dp/1861264380

It would help if we knew what you were trying to paint?

Hi Mal,
We've got plenty of toys you'd recognise .. Fox, Ferret etc .. and not too far away either. Do you have any in service photos you could post?
Chris

Hi Matt,
I have a copy of that - it's quite interesting, and some of those vehicles are still around. I'll have to have a look through my photos later and see if I can find any of them.

Provisionally I think it might be something to do with a Gas mask / Respirator microphone.
That's exactly what it is Andy.

Not for much longer aparently.

It's dated 2002... So can't possibly be Saracen!
Hi, Rich,-The fact that you say it says 'Penthouse', makes me think it is just possible it could b the Penthouse Shelter, used on the back end of Saracen Armoured Command Vehicles, -same shape as mine, but with odd wing shaped projections on the rear roof section, made of sheet metal, and designed for carrying this 'penthouse', it's associated support poles, and cam-netting. When fully set up it slightly resembles a 9x9 Command tent in appearance, only the horizontal roof support poles are telescopic, and poke backwards off the roof of the Saracen. Do you have a picture of it you could post?

From my experience they charge you 20% of whatever the declared value is... but I've had heavy things shipped as a gift, and been charged 20% of the shipping. There's also an £8 handling fee each time, even if you only owe £1 in duty!

Chris,
It sounds like you are slipping the GCP. Remember you can not use it like a clutch. Once you have pressed it down, you must let it back up straight away.

Don't take this the wrong way, but nearly 2mb for a photo is far too large for this forum. You should resize photos to try and keep them to below 500kb. Large picture files take up lots of bandwith, increase the running costs of the forum and make the pages slower to load. In addition to this there are plenty of us who view the forum from mobile devices, where these problems are even worse.
There are plenty of threads on here discussing software to resize photos, if in doubt there's always Google.

The point is that this is a 1986 Land Rover, and should have a xx Kx xx number, but it's got a later xx xx AA number in the photos.

Dan,
Are you sure the vehicle is 24V? I thought the 90/110 had a second alternator fitted to supply 24V to the radio batteries, but everything else is 12v. Have you checked what voltage the bulbs are?

You need an 'Interconnecting Box 3 Radio' (IB3) and a couple of 'Crew Box 2 Set' (CB2) - a power cable and some 12 way cables. You do not need a radio to use an intercom. Green Machine Surplus sells intercom kits with all the bits you need, otherwise look on ebay and you'll find the individual bits.

Most armoured vehicles can be fitted with a image intensifier periscope for the driver. With the lamp covers fitted, when using the sight the headlamps work in much the same way as they do normally - but in infra red. I've used the one in my Sabre a few times and it's quite impressive. You can get image intensifier goggles which do the same thing.

Clive,
I'm not too clued up either, but I thought the CAV100 was a different vehicle. If I remember correctly Snatch 2 is the same as Snatch 1 with the desert stuff fitted. I'm sure someone who knows will jump in and confirm.

Clive,
2320-D-127-201 - although only the first 20 or so pages have Snatch stuff in them, before it turns back into a 110 manual!

Just be wary if you see a User Handbook for sale. There were 4 for sale on ebay recently. My friend was disappointed to find that apart from the cover there was no Snatchy content, just a Defender UHB inside
I f these were the ebay ones he must have been unlucky Clive, mine contains the UHB for Truck, Utility, MED, Lightly Armoured Protected, (VPK), 4x4, LandRover.

I am putting NOS wiring looms in my M151A2... it's not cheap, but at least you know it'll be right. No missing plugs, poor connections, corroded terminals, previous owner bodges etc! If you've got a new chassis, you might as well treat it to some new wires!
