Wayne,
Just undo the cable from both ends, the large plugs should come off quite easily.

Bracket Assy, Support, Canvas Roof - LV9ASC/2510-99-815-6289 - FV51515

Spelling corrected. Apologies
I will assume 86 ZR 99 is a Staghound, but the other photos I have seen had a sloping front turret and twin hull hatches. Is this a different mark or have I completely misidentified the vehicle? Bob
Bob,
86 ZR 99 is a Daimler armoured car.

There are 2 different filter units, the Stormer one has a differnet element number stamped on the case, without the part number I can't tell which one that is.
-
Robin,
The filter element part no. will be stamped on the unit, but I suspect it's a 270-L-110A. Maybe Dan knows for sure?

Hi Carl,
Welcome to the forum - I hope my old 432s are both still running ok

Robin,
The bracket by the back door is for the cable reel. How many holes in the spare sprocket carrier compared with those on the vehicle? Stormer final drives are different to CVRT ones.

They would have been gloss deep bronze green when they left the factory, but that would have been painted over quite quickly.
-
Robin,
I think I'd just call it a Stormer. They have a unique DMC (9STM) for the Stormer specific bits. I have seen Stormer articles in Kit! magazine under the heading Stormer, HVM and CVR(T), so I think you can call it what you like really!

Its has 12Ys in it, which are the recommended plugs. The 13Ps caused problems with burning the pistons.

No worries - the 654 states 4/6/04 for release from ABRO Stirling as was, so Iguess the timing is about right..
Tim,
ABRO Stirling did the stripping before they went to Withams, sich as Messier dampers, optics etc. All of ours went through there. I have a copy of the job card for 03FD84, they stripped 170 of them!

Not updated this for a bit, so here's a quick update.
The Sabre is alive. Here's a video of it sounding like a 432...
We've since fitted an exhaust, I have a new silencer to go on it but I will fit the new exhaust heat shield material and paint it first. The drivers bulkhead is fitted now, along with the controls. We are currently finising of the wiring and electrics to get it roadworthy. We can then drive it home ready for the paint and cosmetics. We also have good take off wheels, track, sprockets, dampers etc ready to fit.
Still looking for a no. 52 gunners sight, if anyone can help!

the 432 might be an experimental hydraulic steering testbed as the usual manual tiller bars have been replaced by a much smaller setup and the steering box assembly in the front of the hull is nothing like the normal one, but it's only my thoughts on what it could be.
eddy
It's an FV432 Mk 3, with the Cummins engine and new gearbox/steering setup. This engine is not too noisy without the exhaust silencer, there isn't a silencer fitted to the CVRT with this engine.

You got any more pics from that tender - although a long shot i think that could be my Spartan in the background 48AT85...?
Thanks
Tim
Tim,
No photos from that tender with your Spartan - but it looks like it could be the same one.

Fascinating! :-)
Should “48 AT 12” ever appear in Withams yard, I do not think I would have any reservations about buying it!
Does anyone know if a different type of engine is installed . . . diesel maybe? :undecided:
I tried “freeze-framing” it at the appropriate times . . .
I did not recognise the rocker-cover on the engine that came out as being a Jaguar item. Unless it was removed between frames, the engine that came out did not have a turbo-charger.
However, that engine that went in did appear to have a turbo-charger fitted - on the left of the engine.
I have 48AT14, which last went through that process in 1997. It could do with a tidy up again now.
The J60 has been out of service for 6 or so years now. The remaining CVRT fleet went through the Life Extension Programme (Deisel) and are called CVR(T)LEP(D). The engine is a 5.9 Cummins 6BTA.

Firast thing if you are upgrading, CHECK THE RAM!! 7 needs at least a megabyte of working RAM.
I think you mean gigabyte, you wouldn't get very far with a megabyte!

Wayne,
You don't need to take the generator panel apart, just un do the large plugs! I've replaced these panels and alternators before, and you don't need to open anything up.
