  1. We have loads here, I'll get some pics for you and post hopefully tomorrow, or would you prefer email?
  2. Who cares what it costs, the longer the sights and sounds of these wartime icons keep flying the better, just ask those who fought during these campaigns and I reckon it'd be a hands down yes everytime. Worth every penny.
  3. Seems like a very good idea to me, some very good advertising, and hopefully a good recruiting tool for our future generation of Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen. I'm no business man but I don't reckon it'll be taking anything away from our "Aircraft carriers or Tactical vehicles" but each sale does generate much needed cash for a Service charity, which one escapes me but apparently it's advertised on the side of the box. Just my opinion.
  4. The production models have a different winch rope end than the Prototype wagons also the hook locks up against the jib when in the stowed postion, I've seen both the box you refer to and also without. I'll try to repost the pics that aren't showing up.
  5. Damn, I'm a computer biff, they show up on mine??? Help lol.
  6. I like it a lot, its got loads of stuff the old wreckers don't, it can lift more and winch more, its a dream to drive. Shame it doesn't have a sleeper cab like the Foden but you can't have everything, but its doing very well on Operations. A lot of guys were/are sceptical but I'm sold on it, but I will miss the Foden when it finally goes out of service.
  7. We now (MoD) treat Recovery equipment as Lifting equipment Hence LOLER 98 and as Richard Farrant says, in respect of Shackles, Pulleys, Chains, strops etc they are subject to a periodic inspection as Accessories currently 6 months, when refering to cranes, winches, Palletisers, Trolley jacks etc as Appliances they are subject to an Annual load test.
  8. I think people are getting confused over the 30 Ton tank needing a 30 Ton winch, You can have a 62 Ton Challenger 2 bogged in, but it may only require a winch pull of 30 Ton in order to extract it. Hence if you had a winch rated at 30 Ton single line pull great, but if you only had a 15 Ton winch then you would need to insert a Snatch/Pulley block giving you a 2:1 pul of 30 Ton, doubleing your 15 Ton winch, or 2 Snatch/Pulley blocks giving a maximum pull of 45 Ton 3:1. MilitantGraham is quite right you dont need to get the Snatch block tested. But under Loler 98 Regulations it should be thoroughly inspected/examined every 6 months. And it would take a brave man to go putting 45 Tons on a snatch block with an unknown history. Just my opinion. Great discussion though.
  9. Welcome Paul, enjoy the site.
  10. I hear you Tony but.... I've been brainwashed with Land Rover and just love the things, got to have a winch fitted though, just so I can play and get her bogged in....... Lovely:cool2:
  11. Thanks for the warm welcome chaps. Markheliops, Yes still using the Foden, but have also played with the Man, we wont get them just yet as the first ones off the production line have gone to the sandy places. And yes, I play lots with Armour lol, nothing beats it.
  12. I guess you work for Phutcheon then
  13. We have just replaced all our Fellows as they wouldn't certify them at 45 Tons, bearing in mind the new MAN SV® can winch 50 Ton 2:1 we now have a new Snatch block rated at 50 Tons.
  14. Hi, It would appear I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Chris I'm a Recovery Mechanic still serving and obviously love all things big and green. I would love to own my own MV but at the moment I get to play with big green toys for free, I guess when I get out I will finally buy one, I would love a Land Rover of some sort so will keep putting the Euros away for when I get out. Hello to all Chris
  15. You could be right but..... it looks like its completely out of the water, and a bit short plus they definately look like Landys.
  16. Come on FV1609 the suspense is killing me.
  17. Yes, thats what I reckon it is, flanked by a couple of Land rover Wolfs.
