Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows the answers to these Q's: Is there anyone who makes Repro British canvas water buckets and if so Where can I buy a British canvas water bucket from? Does anyone make/sell Traficators. Are WW2 blackout driving lamps easy to come across. British Hessian camo netting is a different pattern to U.S. netting isn't it? What if any personal sidearms would the driver/co driver of had? Would the co driver have used standard issue bino's for observation using the observers hatch (if fitted)? What type of tow hitch would have been fitted to British 3/4 ton lorrys, would it have been a WW2 British version of the NATO hitch? What uniform would have been worn by the drivers/co drivers? Were all WW2 vehicles/lorrys fitted with War Department type wheel rims, or were they fitted with Civi wheel rims (if civilian type built for the Army etc)? Also would civi patterrn tyres have been replaced by WD pattern tyres? Thanks in advance for any help. Thanks. Tyler.

Hi, notice the battle dress blouse over the steering wheel on the Austin type vehicle, could that be there to stop the wheel getting too hot and causing the driver annoyance, also noticethe CMP type vehicle has an expansion tank fitted. Tyler.

Hi, can anyone help me identify these WW2 trucks, their all wartime shots of a friends father and fathers cousin. Is it a Morris something? Notice Micky mouse camo pattern on grill, the father fought in Italy/Casino. Written on back of photo above "Our Rolls Royce, Smudgar (friend leaning against truck) & Me (sitting in truck), March 1945, Forlie Italy" No date Is it a Austin K3 GS? Control switch board still has the wrapping on it from when it was mothballed (control coloum was also wrapped up). A friend who helped restore the B25 at Duxford said that they are alomst identical to the tail gunners control coloum. The mudguatds are made of rather thick steel which means no welding is needed, as there was only very slight pitting . Turns over, fuel bowl was nissing so found a spare Landy item which fits perfectly. Just some of the Quads at JPDeacts (all were sold mostly forign buyers). Nice colour for an engine "NOT", starts first time + runs brill, (leaded). Entry and exits are a challange if tall and with big feet. :roll: Windscreen will be cleaned up before the season starts and rebuilt in the winter. The cr*py chequer plate will most definately be removed

Hi Ashley, Ive looked on the vehicle for any evidense of these having being fitted and can't find any, no filler/welds etc so I am guessing that it wasnt fitted with any, if anyone else is any wiser! Ive got a A4 list of Questions/wants and more pics to come still Thanks. Tyler.

Hi, a previous post got me thinking, how common was it for armies to white wash the vehicles during snowie winters in Europe in WW2, also did only certain countries do this or did they just paint them white? Hi, here are some pics of it, at the moment its parked on the front drive along with Polsten unit I can find some storage, Ive ran it up once a week and it does start on the button like the seller said :lol: , and its so quite when running even with holes in the exhaust silencer, I washed it the day after it was delivered as it was so dirty from the trip home, the cab is fairly water tight apart from the opening windscreen but we already knew about that. The only work thats been done to it so far is I removed a plywood board covering from the rear load bed, which reveiled very well laid (tightly packed) wood load bed with quite a few layers of paint, and looking at the condition of the side and head boaeds it could be the original bed. The unit runs on 10.50x16 wheels, weighs over 3.1 tonnes, it runs off a self contained power unit single cylinder petrol engine, which powers the hydralics which makes the whole of unit's movements hydraliclly powered. If anyone can tell me what paint colours it would have been in, type of units it would have served in etc, where I can find missing parts of pattens I would be very greatfull. Sorry for the amount of pics posted, still have a few more to post before the renovation pics start :roll: if you go the my site link their are more/the rest of the pics (still more to add). Thanks. Hi, here are the pics of the Quad Polsten, Ive taken over 150 pics of it so far, I bought it last March for £1500 from JPDeacts in Staffordshire it came with 1 tatty gun cover and a missing backrest (since found down the back of unit hidden by leaves) its dated 1944 along with the tyres. The lorry that was due to arrive at 2pm on the Wednesday but was delayed till the Thursday 2pm came and went it eventually arrived at 4:30 only to discover that the Quad Polsten had moved and smashed several hydraulic pipes for the lorry loading ramps, so a repair van was called arrived at 6pm to replace the pipes, "Of coarse while all this was happening and between making the Teas, the customary Nosey Parker/Moaner had migrated into the area :twisted: " the repairs were done by 6:45 and we commenced unloading, the SWB Landy was put into action to tow the Quad Polsten and very well to did too, by 7:15 we were all done Ive mostly been cleaning up the trailer unit for Redoxiding, but Ive also done some parts of the unit, the guns/cannons mainly need a pressure wash to remove lots of grease, the magazines have already been cleaned/blued and put away ready for when its complete. The engine turns over, which after god knows how many years of not being used is quite nice, the only parts that are missing are the sight mounting bushes and bolts the sight, the connecting bar that connects the sight bar to the elevation unit and a jack handle. While cleaning the mudguards up I found some markings, on the front of the Right mudguard I found a red Maple leaf (7cm H X 6cm W), also on the same mudguard on I found a stencilled marking: I.V. H-797329 (18cm Long), and on the rear of the Left mudguard I found a red circle (3" Dia), Here are some pics:
