Guest matt Posted April 23, 2006 Share Posted April 23, 2006 I'm doing some research into the casting numbers on the WW2 GMC 270 engines and it would be a great help if the CCKW owners on here could have a look on the left(drivers) side of the block behind the exhaust down pipe and tell me what numbers you have there. on my 270,which is engine number 270 53039,the casting numbers are 2135412 and above this and cast upside down is 4 12. I think this is the engine casting date,ie 12th of April,but I'm not sure on that one. The casting number for the head on mine is 6107412,which according to the limited info I have found on GMC engine casting numbers is the head for a 228,not a 270.
