gazzaw
Hi Does anyone have information (or have done same) on converting a 6v Chevy CMP (wrecker) to 12v - what are the pitfalls, apart from obvious coil, starter, battery and generator etc. Is it do-able or best avoided? Maurice
Easyest way is to but a WW2 Bedford Dynamo on , Fits in Original bracket , 6V starter motor can stay , and put the same delco remy regulator model in 12 V in . Change bulbs , and put resistor in front of Fuel gauge , and ready.

My Jeeps have all been converted to 12 volt and in every case the original dynamo works fine. The original starter will be capeable of taking a 12 volt shunt.
