LarryH57 Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 (edited) More of an observation than anything else but in every Lwt fuel tank I have inspected it seems that the gauze filter on the end of the down pipe has been purposely ripped open at the end. Presumably in it's intended form it must have got clogged and starved the engine of fuel. See photo. So is it worth fitting new ones to my replacement tank? Edited August 11, 2020 by LarryH57 Quote
gordonb Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 The Series 1 has the same thing. I've never had an issue with mine in decades of use, but I have had them rot and fall off. Indeed, I found mine in the bottom of the tank only last week. Quote
LarryH57 Posted August 12, 2020 Author Posted August 12, 2020 Do you think having a gauze filter is essential for my new replacement tank? I have a filter bowl on the carb and another in the fuel line leading to it? Quote
gordonb Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Only if you are going to be filling it from unknown fuel sources in unknown jerrycans. Quote
