agripper
Its dated 1944 . My father had it and was a RAF Engineer in Singapore in the 60's . He thought it was a drivers hat from the desert but I've got no idea , don't think I've ever seen one like.

Spook1940
Mountain cap - issued in two variations. One issued as pictured to provide protection again wind and a second variation with a fleece lining to provide extra warmth. Your variation was used extensively around Italy 43'/44'.

Stephenjcairns
does it have a liner flap that the skirts tuck into? I had one years ago, it was described to me when i bought it as "a second world war copy of a first world war Mule drivers cap" . great hat to keep you warm.
