Ian L
I need a Lucas M418G 255378 for my 1945 Standard UV Tilly restoration as the armature is damaged so it is not exchangeable. Or a company that can recondition it and repair the damaged armature ? The Standard UV Tilly is based on the running gear & engine of the Standard 12 saloon car so the Standard Motor Club http://www.standardmotorclub.org.uk/ do many spares but wont do a service exchange if the armature is damaged. Another option is to find out which other Lucas starter motors are the same but just use a different mounting plate if anyone knows ? Thanks in advance.: Edited July 31, 2016 by Ian L
Richard Farrant
That part number was later changed to 25535 by all accounts and it appears to have been a common used starter on MG, Austin and a number of other makes, besides Standard and rebuilt ones are available. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255378-25535-Lucas-M418G-Starter-Motor-Austin-Humber-MG-Morris-Riley-Sunbeam-/301943492507 If you read my earlier post, disregard it as I have now deleted it.
