teletech
I recently came across a long and rambling thread on a Philippine forum regarding a large compressed gas tank attached to the leading edge of some scorpions. Theories abounded: nitrous oxide for performance, natural gas or propane for fuel, but I thought the most plausible was that it was gas for the pneumatic recuperator. Would this perhaps be a hack for leaking seals or to increase potential rate of fire? http://www.timawa.net/forum/index.php?topic=17933.
secondshooter
Probably just Nitrogen for topping up leaks , smaller cylinders were always preferred so you could carry it between vehicles when doing servicing but maybe in the Philippines you get what size bottle they have in the store. Cold_War_Collection
So, I'm not one for speculation, and as such, I have no basis for the following comment...but... If the vehicles are used in an IS role, and CS gas is being deployed, could it be simply air to provide positive pressure to the hull once buttoned up? that would allow the crew not to be masked up? Caddy
The scary bit isn't the bottle strapped on, but the fella who said he uses oxygen to pump up his tyres, can't wait for them to get warm and have a puncture......
