FV2412 Sankey 1-Ton

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Finally got my grubby mitts on a Rapier type trailer, a FV2412 General Purpose 1-Ton trailer.

Anyone able to date it approximately? Or tell me a bit about its contract/use and possibly some paint-penned marks....

Has the small jockey wheels (what were they used for? Moving around at shipping height?), has front and back stabiliser legs, no retraction gear fitted (no evidence of fitting either?) and large clevis pins with over-centre pins in each corner (looks to be quick attach/detatch for something?).

Main Plate:

Contract - 2905 0789

Reg - 71AW65

Serial Number 104

FV680300 (stamped into one of those small modification plates on the drawbar, rest of boxes scratched out.)

Chassis/Body Plates:

Contract - FVE21B/71

Chassis Number - 029

Body Number - 104

White Paint-Penned on top left of front panel, in order they are written:

2905-0789 (contract, I know that)

CC11S (or LL115)

D? 21-4-98

?? ?-10-98

MK 21-1-98

MK 13-10-94

E08696010

TD 2-4-98

Large stencil, front panel top right and rear xmember:

476 (assume unit number?)

Any help gratefully received.

Alec.

Alec despite what it says on the main plate 2905-0789 is the Asset Code.

This equates to NSN 2330-99-893-4456

Publications (seem to start in 1977):

CES Simple Army Code No 31152

Maintenance Schedule Army Code No 13791

IPC Army Code No 61663

UHB Army Code No 61661

EMER WHEELED VEHICLES U210/8 - U219/8

Cheers for that Clive. I've got the IPC so far, I have a few EMERs heading my way shortly as well.

Anyone an idea of date? Other than post '77?

Lots of mentions of early 90s on that front panel.

Would deepcut have records of trailers? I have only applied for self-propelled vehicles in the past......

Alec.
