dkh51250
Hi everybody. Just a few lines about me and my interests. Along with a few others I am updating the history of Catterick Camp/Garrison in time for its centenary in 2014. One particular area where there is a shortfall of information is that relating to the Fire Station. Opened in 1928 and closing in 1980, there is no record currently available of the types of vehicle that would have been operated by the Army Fire Service at Catterick. From my own youth I can recall QL and 15cwt Bedfords along with an Austin Tilly operating from the station. Prior to the QLs there was some sort of civilian fire appliance in use. Later years saw Land Rovers and Bedford RLs? of the Goddess variety in service. The only known photographs of vehicles were loaned out by the last leading fireman at the station never to be returned. Any information relating to any vehicles in use at Catterick over the years, especially fire vehicles, would be greatly apreciated. Information can be via the relevant boards on here, or sent to catterickcamphistory@hotmail.com Many thanks Pete F

Zero-Five-Two
Hi Pete, welcome aboard. I got quite familiar with Catterick in the late seventies while stationed just down the road at Ripon. Best of luck with your research.
