Ian L
I was 'surfing the net' like you do on a wet Sunday afternoon and browsed apon this trailer, I've never seen one like it before. What do you know about them, are they British and if so who made them. Any more photos ? info, and does anyone on the forum own one ? Runflat
This is a Canadian made trailer. Several manufacturers made them. Rare and unusual though.
Pete Ashby
I think this trailer was ex John Marchant ex Steve Stone, it was very original. As Runflat noted Canadian manufactured and not too common here in the UK, there was another restored example in Holland Hanno may know more about this one. They look a little big behind CMP 15cwts but are ideal behind 30 and 60cwt's. On a technical note the over run brake system is hydraulic operated by a Ford CMP master cylinder mounted under the A frame. Pete

I was thinking of towing something unusual behing my QL & K5. cheers Hello Ian no I'm afraid I don't, if the trailer in the photo is the one I'm thinking of Steve sold it on some years ago but I can't remember who to, I seem to remember that it came up for sale again on Milweb a few years ago. There was a least one in Holland and a couple in Norway, the best thing to do is to go on the Maple Leaf Up site and ask around. I have the smaller 8cwt version awaiting restoration in the back of the barn, it too has the hydraulic overrun brake. Pete

Ian, Pete, That 20-cwt in the picture Ian posted was owned by Steve, he sold it to a collector in the UK (who restored and then sold a Chevrolet C15 CMP truck and is now restoring a Champ). It was then bought by a friend of mine here in Holland. There was another one in Belgium, it recently sold to a CMP collector in the UK. Plus there are a couple left in Norway which is where most if not all survivors came from. All in all maybe five complete ones left? They look a little big behind CMP 15cwts but are ideal behind 30 and 60cwt's Wartime photos are thin on the ground but here's one towed behind a C60L: Indeed it is a good match for a 3-ton truck, as smaller trailers tend to get "lost" in your rear view mirrors!
