MartinN
Need to replace the coil on my Bedford MW. Anyone any ideas on the correct replacement and from where. Is there a modern one that fits. Also what is the correct fuse rating for the vehicle.
The Bedford Boys
Being a wartime bedford, it will be 12V. So any 12V coil should do. Look for a pommy car like a mini (I say mini because i've got one in the shed next to the MW at the moment and pinched the coil off it to get the MW running. I think Bosch do a coil called the "GT40" or something, it's meant to be a good coil from what I've heard. Would like to see some pics of your MW. Good luck, Alex
rippo
Hello, It's a standard 12 volt coil you want, not the 9 volt type. Alex is right, but it would have to be the older mini, pre altenator, to have the 12 volt coil, not just any coil. They will start and run on either coil, but the 9 volt one will fail after a few miles. All the fuses are 25 amp, apart from the dynamo fuse which is 22 amp. Hey alex i've a mini in ny other garage to!! Edited October 22, 2011 by rippo
