HWade
Sorry Thread title should read GMC 352 not 353. Well the state of play with the 352 is this I have now removed the body and the fuel tank spare wheel carrier as well as the cab, the cab is in the workshop just about totally stripped out awaiting to sand blasted. There is some welding to be done but all in all its not in a to bad of shape. heres a few pics, Howard Edited June 21, 2010 by HWade
25 pounder
enjoy it , a GMC is a fine truck to work on , basic mechanics , and an icon of military history , every one of them is worth saving !! yours looks to be in good condition as it's shown here
HWade
Well I had a spare slot so i managed to get the cab blasted today and sprayed in primer.I can now see where all the welding needs to be done there is not as much as I thought that i thought I would uncover with the blasting.Well thats it for now, will post more as and when it gets done. 25 pounder
it's obvious , the back panel , that's where they all suffer , got the same problem (and few more :nut:)
HWade
Yep the back panel is the worst area, Thats where the main part of plating and welding needs to be done but, shouldnt be to much of a problem. Howard
ozm29c
Howard, I purchased the repo ribbed section of panel (that joins the top and bottom half of the cab rear) from Jim Carter in the US of A. Attached is a photo showing the repair panel in place. Good luck with your restoration Cheers John Wilson
