MichelK
Hi folks, Because I'm not sure about it's precise use or purpose, I list it as transporter :-D In 2008 I visited the Wings of Liberation museum in Best, The Netherlands Among the equipment that was for show there was an US trailer Now I have been able to indentify it, however that about all that I could find The piece of equipment is an: Semi-Trailer, Low Bed, with dolly, 20-ton, Jahn, Model LKD-620 It has been part of the inventory of the Corps of engineers, US Army Please, is there some one who could help me with information about it :undecided: What was transported with this trailer and what was used as an towing unit MichelK
radiomike7
Semi trailer with dolly suggests that it's primary use is as an articulated unit and that it can be converted to a full trailer with the dolly in the photo. Either way the wheel and tyre combination seems way over the top for a payload of 20 tons, might it be intended for low ground pressure? It also looks as though the front end folds down to form a loading ramp once the tractor or dolly is removed.
MichelK
Hi radiomike7, I think you are right about the front end, that it can be folded down How this should work still puzzles me The big steel standing plate at the front end, placed along the side is welded onto the beam along the side. And this beam is running along the entire length of the loading platform I also have to agree with you concerning the size of the trailer and it's rating It is realy big for just 20ton :wow: What also wonders me is the towing point at the rear end of the trailer I can not remember seeing that very often on an trailer of this size The problem remains, what was it's purpose :???
