My dad was Chief Army Recruiting Officer for the Midlands 1947 to 1972. I was born in 1951 and thoughout the late 50's and early 60's would have given my eye teeth for any one of the models but no go, except for the occassional weekend borrow, to be returned without fail Monday morning. Everything (and I do mean everything!) was stocktaken and accounted for. Any damage to the models, displays etc was the subject of an investigation and repairs were sent off but to who I don't know: RAOC presumably! No doubt, outdated or 'beyond economic repair' models ended up on the RAOC bonfire. New ones must still be made however, I am sure I have seen Warrior and Challenger models in recent years: maybe about 1/6 scale? As I recall, models were very good for detail but of course completely static: turrets, tracks and wheels did not turn etc.
