  1. I've seen numerous links on numerous web forums for photos from A F Budge's site - but all these links are broken, as in the photo hosting websites has gone, or the person has stopped paying their ransom. If you have any old photos of Richard Beddal, A (Tony) F Budge or Harry Pounds, etc - perhaps you could share the actual photos on here, because so many photos can't be seen due to the broken links. I'm specifically looking for photos of 4 Alvis Stalwarts that Richard Beddall bought from Austria in the mid 1980s. These were sold to A (Tony) F Budge around 1988. These Austrian Stalwarts, like the 2 German ones have Hella combined side and indicator lights on the side of the cab, rather than the usual two rubies on the front of the cab. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
  2. Personally, I can't work out if this is an Armoured personnel carrier, or an Armoured car with balconies
  3. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Wally. They sold off lots of petrol engined vehicles around 1993, didn't they. According to a report I have here, the K60 multifuel was around 250Kg more than the Rolls 8 Cylinder. I don't know if that's just for the engine or the full pack.
  4. How much of it is because the Government (and I mean the civil servants, not the politicians) want to sell brand new vehicles to Ukraine so they and that large weapons/vehicle company can make all the money
  5. I recently learnt that whilst some RAF stations had Off road courses or railway sleepers near to the Crash bays, for the Salamander - some stations actually had rollers fitted into the floor of the Mk 6 Salamander bay. This being to relieve the transmission wind up on both sides of the Salamander as they reversed in. I've only managed to find this photo, which shows most of one roller. I wonder if anyone has a photo that shows both rollers clearly, and would be prepared to share it, please. Many thanks
  6. One chap had a Stolly transported from UK to Australia recently. He had to have a new head gasket, clutch, etc because they had asbestos in them
  7. @wally dugan would it be possible to have a list of all the Stalwart report document and file numbers, please - for my website's Stolly development page? To show all the trials done on them? Would be appreciated https://sites.google.com/view/alvis-stalwart-hmlc-files/alvis-stalwart-hmlc-section/development-of-the-alvis-stalwart
  8. It faired better than the BV202, which seemed to rust even worse than the Stalwart wheel arches
  9. @wally dugan Is this the front and rear tubs of the Dyna-trak, side by side?
  10. Doesn't the narrator say Military Engineering Establishment, @wally dugan ?
  11. Hi, On the film of Operation Mudlark (1966), they show an aluminium snatch block being trialled by MEXE. Does anyone know if this got an FV number or anything, please The snatch block is at 12 minutes 25 secs in. The full film is at https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/1060035249 Many thanks
  12. @wally dugan have you catalogued all these manuals and files on a computer spreadsheet? You must have so many of them now
  13. Maybe it was preparation for pot holed roads of the future 😉
  14. According to the design company, "The bracket section on these 13 litre containers were used with carrying straps along with a back-pack cage effect structure in which Soldiers were meant to carry on their backs. I never had the pleasure, thankfully, in using these in training and it wasn’t long after the mid to late 80’s the 18-litre superseded these….thankfully without the ability to be carried on your back!" I've asked about photos, but it's not hopeful
  15. Hi all, I've always wondered if the two recesses on the Norwegian 13 litre insulated containers is to clip on to a mounting bracket or something. Would anyone have a manual, information sheet, or anything for these, please? Thanks
  16. @KevinT If you'd like to post that to me, I could scan it to a PDF for people to view
  17. Many thank for your time and effort, @wally dugan
  18. Hi, Would anyone have anything on Clayton Dewandre Power Cylinder Oil, Oil to GM 4579.M, or Rocol E1A grease, please? This is to lubricate the brake actuator pistons, seals and rods. I've messaged GM on two different websites, and emailed Rocol - but not had a response yet. This is on a Bedford M type 4x4 Many thanks
  19. Yes, I think that was the carrot mine I was mainly thinking of
  20. @wally dugan is there any mention in the Class 30 book about the Stalwart. I'm sure I've read somewhere of at least the thought of using it for Class 30. Not to be confused with the American MoMat. A copy of that for my Bedford Group and website would be appreciated as well, please. If possible https://sites.google.com/view/alvis-stalwart-hmlc-files/bedford-commercial-vehicles-section/bedford-files-m-type-4x4-4-ton
  21. Is there a last part to the Stalwart Story? You just know that I'm going to ask for a copy of that, don't you, @wally dugan 😉 PLEASE
  22. I can't find any modification mention in V647 Modification Instruction or V649 Miscellaneous instructions, but don't think I have the final versions of those EMERs.
  23. Wonder if anyone knows anything about these Hookes joints for the Stalwarts? In 1985, DGFVE approved the modification to replace the Bendix Tracta joints with Hookes Joints. Bearing in mind that all Stalwarts were disposed of in 1993, I've yet to see a single preserved Stalwart with Hookes joints - and I wonder why that is. The Standard Tracta joints The Hookes Joints The DGFVE approval Thanks
  24. Wasn't there a longer carrot one as well? So long ago now
  25. Alvis occasionally used sub contractors on the Military vehicles, right from the start of the Saladin and Saracen. The Stalwart cabs with rubber around the glass instead of bolts to hold them in were made by Motor Panels Limited of Coventry, who were literally across the road. Over the years they made cabs for a number of companies, as well as designing their own cab. They produced the Bedford TL cabs for Marshall's made Bedford TLs The Stalwart cabs with rubber around the windows seem to rust out a lot quicker than the bolted ones made by Alvis
