  1. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a float for my Dingos Solex Carb. Discovered why it wasn't running, fuel in the float!! Nigel
  2. Hi Adrian Sorry to be vague but am looking for the ones for a No.19 WS Ground Station which are I think the Batt.Sec.Port 6v 85Ah. Not sure of the size but are after about 4. I think they have a screw plug connections on the side. Is that any help? Earlier pattern the better if there was a difference. Thanks Nigel
  3. Not sure if this is the correct forum but does anyone know where I can find the wartime wooden battery boxes or where I can get repros or even plans? Nigel
  4. Hi Eugene and others. I thought mine was bad!!! I'm selling mine as its surplus to requirements, so will let someone else restore it. So were these used the same as the other charging sets? Would they have been used in vehicles etc? I take it they are wartime? Nigel
  5. Finally managed to take some photos of my Charging Set. It's made in Canada and has MOD no. Any comments about it would be appreciated. Seems to have its own fuel container, is this normal? Nigel
  6. Not until you can tell me everything about it Ted!! Happy New Year by the way!! Better be quick though as it is about to be taken apart. Does tropicalised mean desertised? Nigel
  7. If it isn't a silly question but is there a difference between the chorehorse and the BSA charging unit? How can you tell the difference? I am about to restore something that resembles a charging unit of sorts but can't id it. Nigel
  8. Has anyone come across one of these? Are they post war? The plate says its a 8cwt Trailer, Hose Carrying. I'm trying to see what is original on it and what is not! I know the metal at the front isn't original as the guy before used to carry his motorbike in it. But don't know about wheels or mudguards. Nigel
  9. Burma The 123rd Indian Brigade attempted to occupy Rathedaung but is thrown back by Japanese forces which had been recently reinforced. 123rd consisted of 10th Lancashire Fusiliers, 1/17th Dogra Regt. The third regiment may have been 8/6th Rajputana Rifles who officially joined 123rd on 1st January 43 1942 dates are exactly the same as 2009. Nigel
  10. I can find out price if interested, after Christmas. Reg No OES was Perthshire I think. Nigel
  11. This one may be for sale. I think there was a spare back body in the woods somewhere if I recall in cammo yellow! Don't know anything else about it (I hope it is an AEC Militant!!) Nigel
  12. Came across this the other day, well in the summer, and was wondering if anyone knows anything about it. Was told by owner that it was used for hauling things off the beaches. Owner may sell. Nigel
  13. This forum never ceases to amaze me with everyone's expert information. Thanks for that. At the moment it is full of CMP parts for a project vehicle so once emptied will see what it is like and offer it for sale. No id plate found at the moment, not to say there isn't one, haven't had a good search. Thanks Nigel
  14. I have a Sankey Trailer that seems to have a strange tow hitch arrangement. I am not very familiar with these trailers, but the ones I've seen have a more straightforward hitch. Can anyone tell me about it please?
  15. Just come across this Bob. Wow....speechless. It's great. I would love to see it sometime. Doing any shows up my way? Nigel
  16. I will when I find 8 more! Or have the remains of mine retensioned or is it resprung!! Thanks for that Richard. Dingo going well now. Sorted its problem. Nigel
  17. At 14" long that would make the seat tubes 70" !! They aren't that long. Are there different types perhaps? Thanks Nigel
  18. Can anyone tell me how many springs are used in the Dingo Commanders Seat? The springs are inside the backrest tubes and enable the seat to be raised easily. I think it is two per side but my parts manual pages stop just before the Commander's Seat parts!!!!!! I am also looking for the raising mechanism for this seat. Thanks Nigel
  19. When we were driving around one evening we had the notion to form up and just follow this jeep! When he stopped we would all stop and wherever he went we would all go! And if he asked why, well........ We didn't! Nigel
  20. As regards what I witnessed. We screamed at the kid between the tanks to get out of there but noticed he continued to follow tank in front then disappeared down a side road. As far as the child with the dummy in his mouth we went to the marshalls caravan on the corner but couldn't find anyone by which time this kid had gone along across the road and was speaking to some others. Nigel
  21. I was on the western desert living history display almost opposite the showers and witnessed some unbelievable stupidity. The two which stick in my mind were a young kid on a small quad bike who got between the tanks as they lined up and moved forward (the tank marshalls had left once tanks formed up. As the tanks moved forward this kid followed then buzzed off one of the lanes only to rejoin between another two tanks. Crazy, as the tank drivers would not see him. The other one was a very young child riding his plastic electric quad up the main arena road in the early evening with all the traffic that comes out at 6pm going around him (he was going against the traffic). This child had a dummy in his mouth!! That young! I looked around for parents but saw no one within 20-30 yds. Nigel
  22. I will be there with either Dingo or Ford Truck and display. Nigel
  23. It looks like the Trailer 5 ton 4 wh Radar AA No.1 MkI*. Inverted spring arrangement at front and towing front axle all the same. Can't see enough of the platform. There was a MkII with the jacking and frame details different. Info from David Fletchers Army Transport 1939-45 Book, p292
  24. Hi Ted nice to hear from you, hope all is well. All I can add is the cop fined me for both offences and made me connect the breakaway cable to the ball hitch mounting plate! It was at a VSA? checkpoint. He had the cheek to say my Ford Staff Car on the trailer was in better condition than my Toyota 4x4 (which had just passed its MOT). Rather than give him cheek back I agreed with him! Nigel
