A detail I found when restoring my Ford WOT2, the trafficator is White, and no red tip. I have looked at all the photos I had of WOT2 trucks in wartime, and all had a White trafficator only.
as my lorry was restored by the REME in 1991 at their ashford barracks you can ask a certain gentleman that comes on here about it, although i don t think he did the painting
as its my first trafficator i have no knoledge of what colour it should be, thanks for enlightening me

yes the wonderful thing called hindsight i walked passed, played by, in, his scrap yard and i can hardly remember what vehicles were in it, i do remember the hippo, aec, fordson major and a couple of volvo cars
as i grew up and started drinking in the pub talking to gerald i always found him very knowledgeable on most things mechanical and also the stars and planets to which i owe him my limited understanding of them
he also had a prop off a sopwith pup or camel, and his real passion was aircraft, he was one of the villages greatest personalitys and is sorely missed
richard, as for stinkers park most of the pieces :-D have found new homes or being restored by the trust, there is a bren gun carrier for sale there, it needs full restoration :sweat:to say the least

There we loads, I would say off my childhood memory around 30 vehicles and stacks on bits and oddss... another shame. prob scrapped when he Died
hi paul,
having been born and bred in hadlow down, geralds yard was next to hut lane which was ideal for go carts and when we had crashed or broke them we would play in and around the lorrys and cars until gerald saw you and shouted and swore at you to go :shake:
when gerald died his sister got planning for some houses on the site and everything in it went very quickly
did you know gerald had a heinkel 111 prop in the backroom of the pub which he nicked from a local crash before the army arrived my dad saw him carrying it on his back up the lane

What is the function of the large support brackets bolted on the front of the vehicle ? The rear body is a bit high :shake:? , I m guessing to clear a winch mounted on the frame , seems it would severely limit the trucks use especially crossing slopes .
hi abn deuce, the lorry is a REME 3 ton light recovery, it has a gantry crane, (the metal beam poking out through the canvas), this slides out the back and is used for suspended towing of vehicles and changing engines, one ex REME guy said he has moved 2 500llb bombs with the gantry :shake: underneath the floor is a 5ton winch, the tallness of body also helps as there is a workbench in the back as for being unstable i cant say as ive not been on any severe slopes

we just wont take them degsy, they have all been donated by retired woodmen and farmers, had one nicked at a local show last year looks like we will have to start chaining them to the lorry :-(
