  1. Shooting up an old caravan with a machine gun ! Is that what the military vehicle restoring fraternity is about ! The more intelligent members of the public see that kind of behaviour as reckless and puerile to say the least. Some viewers of that show are naive enough to get the impression that we MV restorers are shooting up caravans at MV shows and that we are gun crazy .
  2. Hi Pete Those pics look familiar ! David Pope is a Canadian , those snow pics are his pics . David has two C8 vehicles , he is a regular poster on the MLU forum. The drawings I posted in the first post are for the British 8 cwt tilt frame. I should have made that clear - sorry. The British tilt frame ( Morris - Humber etc ) is made from 1" plain tubing . The Canadian tilt frame is made from thick walled plumbers type pipe and the method of mounting to the body is a different setup.
  3. The main problem with that is: the wider audience think we are all as mad as 'fruitcakes' and we behave like the characters portrayed in Combat Dealers .
  4. My PU 8 cwt has its original tilt frame . These dimensions may be of use to anyone with a 8 cwt.
  5. Possibly . Maybe you can have a look at your parts book and see if the cowl rubber edge is listed.
  6. Those remote A units were also manufactured here in large numbers ( and in New Zealand I think ) . I would buy them for 10 bucks when I started collecting signals equipment in the 1980's. Lately, I have seen people asking ridiculous money for them on EBAY here.
  7. Some details for you . I found a piece of the cowl rubber on one of my wrecks, Rory had this rubber extrusion reproduced . The CS8 aero screens had a little rubber bumber rest on the cowl . I found these on my 1939 CS8
  8. mario I think you will have to ask somebody or visit Duxford ? The drawings I emailed to you are Brian's drawings . This is the truck pictured: you should take a plane ride and measure it up !
  9. I do remember discussing CS8 cab floors with Rory Ballard via emails. Rory mentioned that the early/pre war CS8 used a plywood floor and they changed to the planks sometime around 1938/39. I am still confused to some degree because all of my CS8 have lost their original cab flooring many years ago, rotted away or eaten by termites. Only my PU has the original flooring intact thank goodness. Brian Cook's drawings are excellent, he measured up the CS8 Compressor truck which is held at Duxford ? I think this is a unmolested CS8 ?
  10. Who or what is raferk . Maybe a ex RAF flight mechanic ?
  11. Mario If you want any more dimensions, save the relevant picture and do the editing in 'PAINT' eg note which dimension you need and then email me the picture to me . Mike
  12. Did this chap finish this vehicle ? http://www.fareham-darc.co.uk/g8kzo/cs8/cs8.htm
  13. Mario Where are you finding these parts ? A CS8 king pin kit ! You have more parts than I do . Mike
  14. Can anybody identify the unit ? This pic depicts a vehicle in its actual service condition , it is dirty and it has that 'used' patina.
  15. Hey Mario You can come down here and restore my CS8 ....
  16. I wonder if that is the FWD truck that was rescued and restored in Tasmania in the mid 1970' s ? The museum collection it was a part of ( near Launceston ) , was sold about 30 years ago ., including a WW2 Thornycroft workshop 6X4 , universal carrier .
  17. I would like to help you but . It is a major undertaking, freighting heavy parts to Malta ???? I've sent two N0. 11 wireless sets to the UK, I had to make the wooden boxes, take them to a freight forward agency in Melbourne, I slept in the back of my car overnight in a car park . The paperwork, the time. I sent a No. 11 cab windscreen to the UK . I live 130 KM from any freight depot . Getting the picture ? I m not young anymore .. traffic in Melbourne is a total nightmare . Would you do all of that for me if I wanted some CS8 parts from you ? Sure I could put the parts in abox, but you would have to arrange a courier to pick it up..big money needed
