  1. Rippo, Thanks , the Rubbolite rear lamp is listed as correct rear lamp for the Humber Mk4 armoured car, and the parts book is 1943 I seem to recollect. :tup::
  2. Most drivers on the road would not have a clue what the different flags meant. Don't forget the correct vehicle spacing in the packets too, for safety. That way you could not be seen as causing a hazard.

Rippo, I do not know when Rubbolites were changed over, but suspect the rubber shortages may have influenced the change for a metal option. you will have to trawl through parts book to see when the change was. It would not be wrong to see either on a wartime vehicle unless you want it as it left Luton. Normally these lamps are to the offside, Maurice probably put the road-legal glass ones in the position the originals were, and moved those across just for looks.
  5. Hi Nick, I knew a dealer in Sussex who only in recent years had five of them, all sold to collectors now though. Think one was mocked up and used in 633 Squadron.
  6. Re. the pic of the Bedford OY back in 1974, I now have reason to believe the owner might have been a Mr. Brooks of Old Heathfield, in Sussex. Any of you guys in that area remember him?

  9. Thanks Mark. Odd thing is my brother is showing me photos I had never seen before, from about 30 years back. Have a few more I think. They are copying quite well.
  10. This pic was taken at a re-enactment event, in Kent, dated around 1978, called The Battle of Molash. Two M5 Stuarts there, one without turret is most probably a British gun towing conversion.
  11. My brother has been trying out a new photo scanner and found some 35mm slides he took in the 1970's. The first one here, is a Bedford OY, that used to turn up regularly at the Sellindge steam rally. In those days, military vehicles were rare at this event. I think it came from the Eastbourne area, anyone recognise it or know who owned it? The date was 1974, I think.
  12. Only going by Jane's 1983 book, Bernard. Did it actually go further than trials and development? As a small producer I wonder if they had any buyers.

  15. Mike, That is the carbine holder, fixed to the inside of the windscreen frame.
  16. Graham, Not noticed any changes, usually put my photos at the bottom after I have written the words. Red is the colour.....brought up with them and the earlier ones, had them apart many times :-D

  19. Mike, O859 1076 to 1127, which were Army reg no's 53BR76 to 54BR26. These were fitted with KL66 cranes, with a low mounted jib, the cab roof being lower in the centre to accomodate jib stowage. Crane built by K&L Steel Founders and Engineers Ltd. of Letchworth.They are described a general purpose cranes, so may not have been envisaged that they should go cross country. The 6x6 AEC Coles cranes were described as a "Bridging" crane, and they were intended for rougher going.
  20. Not quite as easy going as it sounds, sometimes, ask the passengers on a certain Airbus which tried to emulate a flying boat this week.
  21. John Coughlan........he had a Bedford QL in the past, now has a French SUMB truck, takes part in MVT events in Oxfordshire area group, seen in pics on this forum.
