  3. Hi All l have tonight had a look in the parts manual, the silencer which l have got is wrong. The main down pipe from the manifold is correct, but it looks like I'm on the hunt for a silencer box and the end muffler pipe. Does anybody know where to get one? Im hoping to take her to Normandy 2014 so I think l better start making a fuel fund?:-)
  4. Hi John Thanks for coming back to me, l understand from what you are saying. l have tryed looking for some videos on youtube of any starting or running, and it seems to be limited or none? Has your Diamond T got the oringinal engine in, if so how do you find your fuel consumption to be? l have only really got to the stage of finding air leaks with soapy water. l tested my air brakes from after being stripped and reassembled and to get normal air pressure l used a gallon of fuel!( this was due to about 9 air leaks). I did find after l had retightened the leaks the air pressure went up in no time.:red:(Bit cheaper on fuel).
  5. Hi All Today me, my brother and father went to War and peace on the hunt for Diamond t parts and weasel parts. We where all fearing the worst with the mud, but around all the stalls, mostly dry( alot of people where wearing white trainers and staying clean). We met alot of nice dealers and come away with some good parts. Dont let others put you off because the show is top knotch like usual.:-)

  10. Hi All Just out of interest, recently rebuilt my diamond t engine(engine shells that are pictured in earlier thread l can show equally as good) Does the Jimmy crank require shims to set the right clearence on shell clearences to crank faces. Also to take up end play on the jimmy does it use 2 sets of half semi circle phosphorus bronze shells on the back end of the crank? Cheers Michael.

Hi Antony Thanks for the input, today l had a look at the idler gear on my engine and l have way too much excessive side ways play, any idea where l can get a new bushing for the housing, also the fibre plugs are pretty munched on the end so while l have got the engine out lm not chancing anything that is worn. cheers Michael

  15. Hi TootallMike Thanks for the help with the manual, the manual which you mention is the one that lve got, Im used to jeep manuals which are nice and simple so was hoping there was one similar for the hercules engine.:red: So far parts wise Jaap rietfald has been good, ls there anyone else you can recommend for spares please? 16. Hi All Im doing a nut and bolt restoration on a Diamond T 969 soft top wrecker, and need help with an engine noise. The engine runs absolutley fine, with plenty of power and no starting issues. On start up from cold i have a tick that sounds like a very slight nock in the top end. I have checked the valve clearences and also the end float on the camshaft ETC, these seem all fine. I have taken the heads of the engine and this has not shown any problems. upon close examination l have found that the crank has far more end float than is recommended in the manual, .004-.006. The manual l have on the engine seems very basic compared to other military vehicle engines i have restored using a TM manual. If any of you military guys can help me, or recommend the best rebuild manual l would appreciate your help. Cheers Michael Torbay, Devon
  17. Hi all, Im Michael from Devon Im new to this forum thing, but this thread caught my attention. My company specilises in grit, glass and cabinet blasting. website www.kblasting.co.uk. If you have a spare couple of minutes log onto my website and have a look at what glass and grit blasting can achieve.(Its great stuff, ultimate for paint stripping.). From experience anything that can Flex or bend needs to blasted with finer medias and lower pressures this reduces the chance of warping or bending. chassis and axles, as long as they have been prept properly making sure all data tags, bearings and sealing surfaces have been taped or removed can be blasted with courser grit i.e copper slag. This gives the steel or cast a much courser profile and gives a much better addition surface for the paint to bond to. Again from experience For the little extra money l prefer to use 2pack epoxy paint systems. I find its way more advance than powder coating or single pack paints which are prown for chipping and then cracking then peeling off.( Oh yeah also stay away from Hammerwright, C**P). Hope This Helps and hopefully get some pics of my Diamond T rebuild. KEEP EM ROLLING!
