Which is the junction we come off at to get to your event in 2 weeks time, we are planning on bringing CET, STORMER and a SAURER tracked APC.

Looks like you are doing an excellent restoration, spotted a US jerry can in the shot blasted parts ?
So many Martians got cut up its really good to see one being preserved.
-
Thanks for the varied collection of pictures
-
my drops seems to have fixed its switch off valve all on its own :-)
Be careful mine just turned the fuel off all on its own, bit un-nerving even when only doing 30 mph ! STEERING GOES VERY HEAVY.
-
The two Foden recoveries and the reconditioned Foden axles please.
There are 4Foden recoveries listed 57 to60. Foden axles are239 to 274.

Has anyone got a copy of the latest tender, I forgot to download it?
Do they still offer the facility of being able to buy one of a number of identical items should your bid be the highest for any in the group?
Mike, only got hard copy, what lots do you want to know ? As far as I am aware there has never been an "option on" additional lots on the Witham tender.
PS we need your help on the S26 thread !
-
There are also paper tenders faxed in, so it's not all electronic, they have to see if any of the paper bids out bid the electronic ones, must be a right pain. As previously stated you generally get a call in the next couple of days.

Does anyone know how the key switch controlled ( can't call it ignition switch as it's a Diesel ) fuel shut off works on the RAF S26 tractor ? Having a few issues with mine not turning off, then it suddenly turned off on its own whilst driving...not ideal ! Its all tucked away behind the left chassis rail, should there be a spring attached anywhere, had a quick look in limited light but need to inspect properly.

Probably brought back from Kuwait / Iraq after Gulf 1 for evaluation.

Okay i get married on the 1st July, in tissington, taking the newly painted Ural and Sand coloured Ferrett plus the daf as haulage for the ferrett to have a few pictures on the day with the vehicles...will be fun, the cost of getting them to the place is around 800 quid...ouch..ouch ouch...
take a look at the ferrett and daf and Ural at our facebook page thecoldwarcollection no spaces.
Congratulations Paul, that would be Tissington in sunny Derbyshire ?

They appear to have been vacuumed up as the MOD re-lifed them as diesel spec CVRT gearboxes.
Buy one if you see it.

2 on Milweb right now !

If the one for sale can add a silencer then that would be great....are you going to war and peace?
No sorry the for sale one is not threaded internally, no not going to War & Peace this year but have local friends who are.
-
It would appear that there are actually 2 types of exhaust hose for these charging sets. One with a plain end the other with a threaded bore to take a short exhaust silencer. See picture attached taken after a quick rummage in one of the storage boxes. The hoses are stainless flexible with a heat resistant covering. The one with the slightly rat chewed covering is for sale at £25 should you want it.

Andy,
Different generation engine, I know, but a very recent post on here for a CVR(T) strongly suggested blocked idle jet(s)/ ports in the carb. Symptoms are strikingly similar. My 4pfs worth, before a 'grown - up comes along
'Chas.'
Your not wrong....same or very similar Solex carb, Stalwart has 48nnip carb.

Welcome on board, you should find plenty of information on the site.

i'll be there with the Cromwell converting pound notes into heat and noise
Rick is the Cromwell coming back to Manchester after W & P ? Melvyn is having his show over the weekend of 2nd & 3rd August at Heywood, now we have 100 acre playground ! We are taking a few more modern pieces of tracked armour CET, SAURER APC, STORMER, and possibly the M578, Melvyn will of course have their Centurion and 2 Chieftains out as well as a few other pieces of tracked armour, this show has the potential of being the Beltring of the North.

Blimey, where's that lot John?
Not too far away from both of us Nick I'll PM you the location.

What about the 2 year Open University Degree in HGV?
I'll put that on the list of other things not to waste my life on !
-
That would be Craig's Fox then ?
-
Thanks for the link, very interesting.
I have full class 1 HGV and have no intention of ever doing the 35 hrs waste of my time as primarily I use my class 1 for moving my own vehicles to and from shows, however I occasionally borrow an artic low loader from a friendly local haulier again to move my own vehicles (not for hire or reward) and just pay them for fuel. As a favour for this I do 2 or 3 days a year working for them when they are stuck for drivers during peak holiday periods. Up until now that has not been a problem as the 35 hours waste of time does not cut in until September this year, but after September it seems I may still be able to do it as I don't get paid for it, but they do get paid for the job....am I stretching it too far ?

The stormer uses the 'old school' perkins so should easily be overfuelled from the standard set up. I don't know, but they look as if they're running fairly 'rich' under load, so exhaust gas temperatures may be a problem?
Terry
Certainly plenty of fuel smoke on the 2 I look after, and they do go rather well, although track tension seems to be a problem on them both when manoeuvering in reverse.

Hi John
Thanks for your message.
I do have some, however I wouldn't mind getting another 8.
Can you please give me a price including postage to Oz?
Tried sending you a PM, however your Inbox apparently is too full!!
Thanks
Simon
