  1. I am still looking for a Scout car, is there nobody on the forum who owns one? or knows someone who has one. Jim.
  2. Looks like its just you and me then Jack.
  3. Hey Jacko you come down to Gingers bar and we can discuss it over a few JD and cokes. Oh I forgot you are tucked up by 9.30pm with a horlicks or warm glass of milk. Jim.
  4. Are you sure they didnt say a "smile" not "style" we could do with something to have a laugh about. Jim.
  5. Hey Jacko how did you manage to get with the elite on row E then? I supose we will see a lot of you as we are just down from you on E39-E40. Jim.
  6. Hi ABN, you are right the rubber is lifting and there are one or two more that are the same. When I restored the Sherman it was on a limited budget so I had to use wheels that were not in the best condition. Since June 2004 I have had three tyres come off but I have collected a stack of NOS tyres and spare wheels so I just run them until they need changing. The tracks are just about worn out now, I think after "Tanks in Town" I will have to replace them aswell. Jim.
  7. When the tanks were new, it was not recommended to run them at more than 20 mph for sustained periods because the roadwheel tyres were apt to fly off the rims! Very true this happened last weekend after a road run back from a local carnival. Jim.
  8. Hi Baz, you can make the inner screen frame from a REO frame ,with a bit of cut and shut. The passenger seat can be made from a Jeep rear seat, narrowed and the pivot point altered. Here is a pic of the one we restored. If you need any more info please contact me. Jim.
  9. The Church in Mosta is interesting, while a service was in progress during an air raid in WW2 a bomb came through the domed roof and landed near the congregation but did not explode. Make time to go to any of the many carnivals they are great the fire works are supurb and health and safety no where to be seen Malia Bay is lovely, St Pauls bay is smelly. Take a trip to the isle of Gozo well worth it. Jim.
  10. Good to have you and Jess on board Jack, what a cracking weekend it was good weather and good company but all over too soon though. I would just like to point out that the baby chair next to me in one of the pictures is nothing to do with me,its not mine, I didnt do it, I wasnt there ok anyway like my Sherman Ive been deactivated so there. Martin would like to thank all those who helped him when his gearstick came off in his hand(perhaps I should rephrase that). On the road run on Sarurday Martins gearstick snapped of right next to the gearbox.Jason went back with his Diamond T 981 and towed him to the carpark where the top of the gearbox was removed. While this was going on Ron Pier and John Illot organised a welder( Mike Manning) to rejoin the bits, Poppy Butcher then took the parts to the welders workshop in her car. The GMC was then towed to the campsite ,Poppy returned later with the repaired gearstick it was then fitted by Pete Blackman and Martin. So Martin was able to use the GMC in the Sunday parade and return home safely. Jim

  16. Tony, I think I will, I like to see things being used not just sat there like museum pieces. Jim.
  17. Hi Adrian, I think you are right there. I dont know much about these gennys but from what I have found out the PE-95- A,B and C were all Ford ONY engine (basically Ford GP engine) driven and had updraught carbs, magneto ignition systems and produced 110 volts. The later Pe-95-F,G,H to K had GPW/MB engines with the normal battery/ coil/distributor ignition system and down draught carbs with an output of 240 volts If anyone knows any more please let me know. Jim
  18. Doh, its in the title Jack "barn find" means it was found in a barn. So you look in barns, not new used ones but the old unkept, tumble down type , easy innit. Jim.
  19. I just bought a very nice WW2 Onan PE-95-C generator, its been stood in a barn in France for about 25 years and was rebuilt by the French army in 1952. Fortunatlly the original US data plates and name plates are still on which is nice as they are normally changed for French ones. It has a Ford GP engine not the normal GPW engine which is also rare, The engine turns over ok with good compression so no stuck valves. It was still sealed with all openings taped up and silica gell plugs screwed in the plug holes, I found the spark plugs wrapped in grease paper in the spares box with other parts along with the check sheet dated 1959 the last time it was checked for long term storage. Its almost a shame to unseal it and run it up as its so nice as it is. Here are a few pics taken to day when it arrived back at our workshop, enjoy. Jim.
  20. Thank you all for your messages. As for my age , you know what they say "you are only as old as the woman you feel" hmmm if I could only remember her age, suppose I must be getting old. By the way Jack there is no E in Clark. Jim.
  21. Is this for those "special " films Jack ,if it is the anti-shake mode is worth having. Will you be taking it to Ciney for the continental flavour? Jim
  22. Help needed, is there any White Scout Car owners on the forum willing to let us borrow/hire one for a couple of weeks so we can make a canvas pattern of the canvas top. I do not want to copy a copy or even a NOS one without haveing a vehicle here to try it on. I am sure we can come to some arrangement over fees etc with the owner. If anyone is interested please call 01454 261100 or 07831 378904. Thanks Jim.
