  1. The "young" man next to me in the picture is a cleanshaven Martin, the other member of ALLIED FORCES, he shaves his beard off for the trip each year as we like to keep up appearances, so take heed Jack, next year our strict dress code will again be in place.O one more thing, No gay red neckerchiefs please

    Rubber

Give Tony Sudds a call he sells them as set, his number is 01474 703131. Jim.
  3. I think you will find that the door in the picture is off a WC 64 KD Dodge ambulance, as it is the same as we have made for customers with this vehicle. I expect some quick thinking GI nicked it to protect himself from the cold weather. Jim.
  4. ABN, I don't think the cab roof is the problem, its the first section of the main tarp where the water puddles, then when the brakes are applied it shoots forward over the driver and passenger. The flap sewn between the main tarp and cab roof works well and stops the water coming over the front.I know this makes it impossible to remove the cab roof from the main tarp but you cant use the cab roof without the main tarp anyway. I don't think making the whole canvas as one would work as there would be no way to tension the cab roof section
  5. ABN thanks for your comments about our canvas doors, as WW2 military vehicle collectors ourselves we try to make things that we would want on our own vehicles. Unfortunately it does not stop the water coming over the front when you first apply the brakes. We did for one customer, sew a flap between the main tarp and the cab roof which worked very well, if he wanted the cab roof off he just rolled it up onto the front of the main tarp. Jim.
  6. The set for an early Dodge WC (without the gap behind the spare wheel) is £350-00, for the late WC (with the gap) is £380-00 and for the narrow body Canadian version £400-00. We sell loads of these, it makes the vehicle a joy to drive in bad weather. Jim.
  7. I don't think there was a factory set of doors for the Dodge WC range, but I am sure the GIs would have improvised something to protect themselves from the bad weather especially in the winter of 44/45. If you are looking for doors for your dodge we make a winter enclosure for the WC range it fit very easily with no modifications to your vehicle. When fitted it makes the Dodge virtually draft and weather proof with no loss of visability. I will attach a couple of pictures to show what it looks like and will post more in the classified section. 11. Got back this morning from an excellent weekend in Mons at the " Tanks in Town" event. I know its called tanks in town but there are all manner of pre 1945 military vehicles there both allied and axis. This year the theme of the event was Half Track orientated and I believe there were almost 30 HTs there. There was also a Diamond T and Rogers trailer with a rare scraper, apparently the scraper had stood in a barn for over 40 years and only need a paint job to get it in the condition in these pics. We met up with an old freind from the USA, Charles Varner he is the president of the MVPA and also does a good impersonation of General George Patton, he had never ridden on a Sherman before so he came with us. On one of the offroad sections through the woods we passed the remains of a Half Track it looked as if it had been modified for forestry work and just left there. On one of the afternoon stops in a small village a Belgium gent came over to us with an old photo album full of pictures taken on the 2nd September 1944, the day the village was liberated by the Americans. One picture was of a Sherman tank passing by his house, so as we drove by I stopped in almost the same position and Martin took a photo. I am sorry I cant do a now and then pic, but John Blackman was there and took photos of the album so maybe he can post some comparison shots. A view of the first halt. Coming through the countryside and into Mons. The whole weekend was superb with good weather and I think anyone who attended will have a grin from ear to ear for weeks, I know I will.
  12. Hi Richard, whose Hellcat are you crewing? Jim.

  15. MONS TANKS IN TOWN 2006 http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/x1pPHu2K6HCG6qK46g5I2xVGYZJGhG7zJXG.jpg[/img]
  16. Yes, wouldn't miss it for the world, transport, crew, logistics already sorted, just need to whip out the Sherman engine to change the clutch. Jim.
  17. Hi Mike, don't worry mate we found a nice bloke with an AEC wrecker and he put it back in for us. Jim.
  18. Just got back from Kemble, spoilt a bit by the rain but met up with TootallMiike and Grasshopper. I took a few pics of the Sherman on my mate Jason Jefferies Rogers trailer pulled with an open cab Diamond T. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/Kemble2007004.jpg[/img] http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/Kemble2007007.jpg[/img] Jason's trailer won best in class at Kemble, very good for its first outing after its restoration, but then anyone who knows Jason's restorations will know they are absolutely first class and second to none. As you may know Diamond Ts carried about 10tons of ballast in the rear box to give them more traction, not having the proper weights we put in a length of steel Sherman track and the original Chrysler multibank engine from my tank giving about 4 tons of ballast . At the show I asked TootallMike to lift the engine out of the back of the DT with his WLF and place it on the ground next to the Sherman as a bit of a talking point. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/kemble.jpg[/img] http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/kem2.jpg[/img] Thanks Mike. last pic is the outfit loaded and ready to return back to base. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/kem5.jpg[/img] That outfit looks the "Mutts Nuts" even if I say it myself, anyway just like to thank Jason and his two assistants Geoff and Mark for looking after my old girl and bringing her back safe and sound and hopefully I will have my Mack NO and trailer finished soon to go with them on future trips.. Jim.
  19. Hi Mark, I used just under £150-00 for both days, but worth every penny. I think if I worried about the fuel consumption (about 2 gallons to the mile) I would not take it anywhere.
  20. Heres a few more pics, don't take any notice of the date the camera is jammed. the first photos are taken from Martins GMC on the Saturday road run to Portland Waiting for the parade to move off on the Sunday morning.
  21. Here it ain't no laughing matter, Ive changed 12 tyres today "single handed". Half done 12 more to go and yes it is tyreing.
  22. Hi Kyle, episode 13 is the one on tanks, this is the one I'm in. Not having cable or satellite TV I have no idea when its on sorry. I don't know if anyone else has been watching and can help.
  23. I was working on a Ford GTB cargo body , its one we are restoring for a customer. I have been naffed off all day, although I can still use my hand I haven't been able to do what I wanted today. This weekend I had planned to carry on working on my Rogers trailer, last weekend we turned it upside down to make it easier to remove the wheels and free off the brakes. While the wheels are off I am taking all 24 tyres off to check ,re-tube and refit, I think it may take a little longer now.Heres some pics of last weekend. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/ROGERSTRAILER064.jpg[/img] http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/ROGERSTRAILER066.jpg[/img] http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/ROGERSTRAILER069.jpg[/img] http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/ROGERSTRAILER072.jpg[/img] And heres the 24 tyres to change. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/ROGERSTRAILER071.jpg[/img]
  24. Just to let you restoration people know, that although I have been repairing motor vehicles and building rally cars for years, and of late restoring military vehicles, it takes just a split second for accidents to happen. http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q151/CatD4/cid_i1_picture00081.jpg[/img] Yesterday while using an angle grinder with a 1mm cutting disc in it, I managed to gash my wrist which needed 5 stitches. Fortunately I missed the tendons. The stupid part about it is I had been wearing protective gloves until 2 minutes before, took the right glove off to change the disc for one more cut ,didn't bother to put it back on and BINGO. I know its not serious, more of a blooming nuisance really as I have loads to do. So take care!
