  1. Steve - would be good to see a few photos of the specific NI version you mention, when you get the chance. Is it significantly different from the examples in this thread?
  2. Richard - the NSN is 8405 99 135 7765 old size 2. These are the pre-cursors to the trousers in my post and superceeded them in NSN terms. I have the matching jacket to your trousers.....somewhere!
  3. No dates. Jacket is NSN 8415 99 978 4520 and trousers NSN 8415 99 978 4524, which are different from the NSNs you quote but same description on items as the earlier 135 776? items.
  4. Thanks Clive. I have examples of clothing from both NSN sets and they seem identical to me, hence the question. It appears that one simply replaced the other whilst the item specs were essentially unchanged.
  5. Again - resurrecting old threads so apologies! Clive - do you have a date as to whne the deletion occured? Thanks
  6. Hmmm - dunno how I missed that. Should look closer and not jump to conclusions I guess. Still the 63 Patt Olive smock is still THE piece missing from my collection....
  7. Agree with above. A 1963 Patt olive green. Real shame it is missing the label...
  8. Sorry to resurrrect an old thread but does anyone have a QM listing for quilted trousers in old ( 1,2,3 etc..) sizing? As per above just interested to know what the largest old money size was... Thanks
  9. Damn Steve! I was going to ask you to keep an eye out for a couple of items for me!
  10. Can't say as I have ever seen 60 patt in Gurkha size ranges Steve. Plenty of 68 pattern - I have a couple of examples but no 60 patt. Would like to see the detailed thinking behind the 52 Patt development though....as over the course of 3-4 years that pattern underwent rapid development with several issued variations.
  11. OK! So two types of DPM (60 and 68) introduced and circulation at essentially the same time...admittedly does sound typical of the MOD:D
  12. Steve - I had thought that 60 pattern DPM was around from c.1966 onwards. I have a couple of 68 pattern DPM items dated 1971, and judging by the amount ot 60 pattern DPM produced, it must have been in circualtion for a few years prior to the 68 pattern in 1970/71...
  13. Superb Steve - would love to see the close ups you mention espy label. I wonder if this may have been a pre-cursor to the cold weather parka. As you say 60 pattern DPM was in wide circulation at this point and the 68 pattern is a world apart from this even though it was likely in development around this time. It is SO different from the 60 and 68 pattern it just seems to be a big jump from these two issues. The long length and integral hood point more towards a parka. Just a thought....
  14. Should be Falklands era as it is in old 1,2,3 Small, Medium, Large sizing. Suffering from the dreaded flaking on the white side although the tapes are in pretty good condition.
  15. Thanks Clive. The only legible numbering I can see is that inside the boot. 102CS is as detailed as it gets hence my thinking that these may not be issue items in the normal sense but a commercially sourced and then issued item..
  16. Picked these up recently - supposedly issue British Army motorcycle boots. Cannot find evidence of an NSN so wondered if anyone had any information on issue army motorcycle boots. Were they mainly private purchase, MOD spec specific manufacture or were there small batch purchases by MOD from commercial suppliers? Will be looking to trade these if anyone has any interest. They are in good condition.
  17. Looking forward to the pics Steve. Would be especially interested to see what is written on the labels...
  18. Nice finds Jon - boot sale items or mil show?
  19. Oh you silver tongued devil Jon! In short Irish smock has sort of map/hand pockets at the chest rather than the typical 60 pattern dump pockets. It also has internal poachers pockets behind the lower front pockets rather than just the rear pocket with the British 60 pattern. That is really about it in terms of deifferences for the smock. As for the trousers there are wider, squarer belt loops and two thigh pockets, and a wider FFD. Again that is about it for differences. Overall really very similar to British 60 patt. The trousers even have an NZ zip.
  20. Ahhh - no 'pulling the wool' with you Rich!:-D
  21. Been after a decent sized Irish Army 'Greens' combat set for a while so was pleased to pick this up. As you will see based very much on 1960 pattern British kit and made and issued until quite recently relatively speaking. Pretty uncommon and difficult to come by (espy in largest size 9) - the most scare item is the hood! The smock is in great condition but a little faded, the trousers are issued but unused.
  22. So did I! Actually I think in this case it is, as you say, a homemade DPM hood using an OG as a donor...
  23. Not to be outdone on the photofest! Here are a few photos I have been meaning to post for a while. - RAF foul weather jacket in old sizing - Old issue DPM windproof trousers in an inconceivably small size! - And the good old 60patt trousers in large and elephant sizes.... And as if I didn't need reminding -wife walked in on me photographing the windproofs and swiftly commented - 'are those women's trousers? Only they have pleats.....well either way they are really ugly..' and then left the room. She used to refer to my collecting as 'camo porn'...after several pleas she now begrudgingly refers to it as 'collecting militaria'
