  1. You're welcome >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Done it yet?!
  2. STOP PRESS - I am going to say something! I kind of thought the same as Andy when I read this. I think anything you are in or on going at a speed that it isn't built for is more than scary. I done this once in my GMC on the motorway - nearly hit 60mph and it wasn't a nice experience. A DT at speed would be a lot to handle as previous members have stated. Just enjoy the ride, less stress, less wear. You aren't going to gain a great deal really unless you really tune it up. - can't believe I just made a half sensible post
  3. OK Stu - just had a load of hate mail sent to me because I was picking on you. So to upload pictures of your new toy (which is more important right now than the show) check out this link... http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?17701-Tutorial-Uploading-Photos-amp-other-Attachments
  4. Much admiration to you Tim. That is a perfect answer that no one can argue with. And good on you for allowing this thread to run because I think there is some great feedback in there that you are using to nail it for next year. I don't often post on threads concerning the MVT but felt I had to on this one. My gut feelings were, this is seriously not good for the hobby on all levels. And yes, I am the first one to say pull a post if it concerns putting our hobby in a bad light as we know that the powers that be watch HMVF. BUT what I wanted to make clear to the world is that actually this hobbyis grown up, can self regulate and I think it has just done that and with Tim's response and feedback even more so as it takes courage to sit there and take on board the feedback that has been posted - most people just put their fingers in their ears. I think all round the hobby may have just shifted forward a bit. The hobby at it's best. Moving on. So back to the photos of the event everyone. Jack!
  5. That's a fine point. I know at A&E 2012 I turned several tanks and tracks away at the last minute (also actually one on the day) because the 'paper work' wasn't up to scratch. Have a swim in is a cracking idea and it would be good to see but a serious protocol needs to be put in place. I would have hated to have seen Neil in trouble in the middle of the lake :-(
  6. There must be some major politics going on behind the scenes with regards to Wargaming. They soon jumped in when the media interest built up and they must have been convinced with the evidence given to them that there was a good chance of finding them. I don't like the way this looks - Wargaming are holding a lecture on why they are NOT there. It sounds to me like major face saving and a smear campaign. They did not throw money and backing into this lightly. A more interesting lecture would be on WHY they back it.
  7. I don't think that's the case here Gary. HMVF does discuss incidents that happen at shows and on the roads. We heavily discuss what happens at the W&P show and using the helicopter incident for an example and then the crazies on quads etc etc and BB nuts and so on. This was a national show and could have seriously damaged the whole hobby. Many folks spend a lot of time pushing this hobby and our history forward. If this hobby is to self regulate then this incident is a massive wake up call to all of us. As we all know, MV's have blind spots everywhere but tracked vehicles are blindspot central and as we all know tracks and armour are a whole world a part from soft skins - they need a whole different approach and mindset in their handling. There are lessons as always to be gained from this BUT such a thing isn't rocket science but it is complacent.
  8. They went when my GMC went Gary checks them everyday for me now :shocked:
  9. I would hope the whole incident is being investigated by the MVT as that is a combination of errors that could have seriously cost lives. Lucky day for everyone involved and a lucky day for our hobby.
  10. Well I have to say that it was a great show all round. I went as a trader and the 'staff' couldn't do enough for me or for any of the other traders and that's always a good sign. As I got to the show - I was greated by Chrisg - coming out of the loos. Chris isn't an oil painting at the best of times but seeing him in his PJ's, unshaven and stumbling out of the gents really isn't a good sight. It got worse. I went over to Chris's pitch to have a nice cup of coffee (fat chance) caught up with Tony and Pete - High Plains Drifters - then the shocking sight of seeing Rambo in a thong...........SERIOUSLY I am not sure what it is with those Post War guys  What really strikes you about this show is that is has such a nice ambience and a really nice laid back feel. Vehicles moved around with common sense and it showed. I tend to talk to everyone, traders, vehicles owners and reenactors and not one had a bad word to say about it. They all have that sort of 'we support this show' attitude. Another thing that caught my attention was the fact that food van wasn't stupid prices and that makes all the difference to families that come in for a day out. I like cofffee and good coffee at a £1 cup was a winner for me For me it was a great start to my show season and the first one I have been to in four years with the tents. AND I didn't see Rosy drunk at all!! FACT. Not only is this show a good show for the hobbiests amongst us but more importantly it is a great show to introduce the public to both our hobby and our history. Great work all round by the team and see you next year. JB!

  15. Haven't seen it mentioned here but did you guys see this bit of news yesterday? http://www.warhistoryonline.com/war-articles/spitfire-hunter-insists-iconic-planes-are-buried-in-burma.html
  16. Jack

    DO 17 raising

OK, so yes it is a lot of money but what price do you put on history? We all know of bits of history that we wished the nationed had saved and in 10, 20, 100 years time our nation may be so pleased someone took the plunge and got the job done.
  17. LEE! We arranged never to speak of that again, didn't we?!
  18. Good point Neil but it's not my plane so it should be OK :-D
