  1. It is from Fingringhoe but it and another were only recovered last year.
  2. They are certainly the only two I'm aware of and I have a vague feeling they may be the same vehicle. Does Jim Osborne still have his?
  3. :-D Actually, the owner has had a lot done so far, this is how it looked on the range. We have to fit a centre floor, new sponsons and make some parts.
  4. It's a C-2, 12 1/2 ton wrecking semi-trailer which came in two models, a 25' and a 40'. This is the latter and the size refers to the bed length.
  5. Actually, that's not so far out as it sounds, except for the two hours bit! There was a Ram 3" SP built with an M10 turret and upper hull. See http://ramtank.ca/ram_experiments.htm for more pictures.
  6. Don't be silly Jack, I had lunch during that time as well! :-D
  7. It was a Ram and it was coming to me for some work. Unless it was another of course! About 2 hours later you would have seen an M10 going the other way...
  8. Just found the link I read recently. http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12156 Sounds like 'Who killed Richthoven', everybody wants the credit!
  9. It does rather as it's a similar size to the 17 pdr!
  10. The Chev is a radio van, the trailer carries a PE95 generator, the famous jeep engined genny.
  11. Sorry Degsy, not correct.
  12. Hanno gets the first virtual biscuit, the one on the left is a 17 pdr MkV from an M10 complete with its cradle.
  13. 17 pdr yes but not an 88. Extra points for vehicles they came out of....:-D
  14. Who can identify these two?
  15. That was Mudd, quite appropriate for Normandy in June! :-D
  16. I looked at having Cromwell wheels re-rubbered about 10 years ago and it was £300 each then.....
  17. Not just the crankshaft! All rotating componants and indeed bearings and crankcase may need to be looked at. Unfortunately, our RV9 tipped on it's nose on saturday and the engine is going away tomorrow for a shock load strip and inspection. £3000 plus parts...... £2000 for the prop..... these pale into insignificance compared to the equivalent Hurricane items.
  18. Don't you hate it when that happens? The standard track jacks are designed for Stuart and the end connector puller pin is not really man enough for Sherman. The later ones have a larger pin in double shear and these are much better.
  19. Tracks are the same as Sherman but that's no excuse for cutting the end connectors! :nono: :-D
  20. It's a Centaur dozer which was a conversion of a Centaur gun tank but this has been modified to hydraulic operation, the original being a cable blade with internal winch. The Centaur dozer was produced in numbers but this may be a prototype.
  21. Thinking about it, I believe any vehicle over 3500 kg can only be tested as an HGV, i.e. a full plate and test and if it is pre 1960 and used unladen, it is exempt from test regardless of whether it is a goods vehicle or not.
  22. Presumably, a vehicle that, by virtue of it's weight, would have to be plated and tested as opposed to any other class of test, would be exempt from plating and testing if it is pre 1960, used unladen etc. etc. I always assumed it needed to be a good vehicle to claim exemption but reading the form it states a motor vehicle, pre 1960 etc. I think this covers any large vehicle that would normally have to be plated and tested. So although a recovery vehicle is exempt anyway, I believe it still would be if it meets the weight/ age/ use criterion simply because if it were tested, it would have to be a plate and test and it is exempt from this requirement if used as above. As class VII only covers up to 3500kg, the only test applicable is a full HGV test.
