  1. Not come across Plumb Flue but I would guess what you are talking about is fire cement which is what we used to use (when we did things like that) to seal flue pipes to stoves & where they penetrate register plates . Don't think it would work well in this application , it sets very hard when it goes off and is not flexible . I would guess that it would crack & blow out with the movement but it might be worth a try as an experiment . DM
  2. Thanks for that suggestion . Just tried it & no difference still can't buy anything . PM about to be sent .
  3. No. Thanks for the PM Jack but I still can't register or log into the shop . When I try to register I get the message that the e mail I have entered is already registered . If I try to log in I get the message that either my username or password is incorrect & to click on the button to get a replacement password . It may be me in my not terribly computer literate bumblings but at this end there isn't a button to click on . Can you, Joris or somebody tell me where I am going wrong & please point me in the right direction . Thanks .
  4. Had a report - second hand - from one of the stationary engine exhibitors & regular GDSF attendee that the Mil section was excellent this year & a credit to all the exhibitors involved .
  5. Welcome back Neil , we've missed you . :-D See - snot just me izzit . :-D :-D
  6. Maybe that's what the mission to Bulgaria is - a rendezvous with the blond :-D or just maybe she is Mrs . MHP & he's not telling
  7. Been looking at pics of the M170 (think I got that right) Jeep variant which I quite fancy . Can't recall that I've ever seen one in the tin - have any of the Jeep aficionados here got one? Any thoughts on what one is like to live with up & down sides ? Also been reading a bit about the ambulance version of the NEKAF M38A1 recently but couldn't find a pic of one - all I could come up with were a couple of shots of the ambulance version of the MUTT. Presumably the M38 is pretty much along the same lines ?
  8. but.....but......but......it won't let me register as my e mail address is already being used...........and I can't log in cos it won't accept my details .....and I can't ask for a new password cos there isn't anything to click on to ask for one .......and ....and ......and..... :computerterror: :computerterror2:
  9. Just tried the link & it's been removed again !
  10. If it helps get the numbers up for the order I'll have two pairs Jack  BTW - I would do it properly & put my order in at the shop but when I try to login my password &/or username is not being accepted . I know it's me ...it has to be me ...what am I doing wrong ?
  11. Come on Tim - how much longer you going to keep us in suspenders ? Are we getting warm ?
  12. Can't put off doing this anymore.... In real life - far too real sometimes :-) my brother & I run the family firm . We are the n th generation of builders here and are one of the dwindling number of traditional country builders left . These days mostly engaged in restoration work to older properties for our customers & from time to time we do a spot of maintenance work in local schools . For a spot of relaxation I'm voice No. 2 in local pub band Sad at the Clinic (http://www.sadattheclinic.co.uk) which keeps me mostly sane & then there's always the toys to play with.
  13. Whatever makes you think it is still a free country? Granted it may be free - er than many but it has not been free for many years now . In fact not since the time when the police worked for us and turned into an organisation working on behalf of (whichever) government of the day .
  14. OK ....I can take a hint........ :died:
  15. Good journalism.........isn't that a contradiction ?
  16. Oh I see.............blame me ..........make me feel guilty for 'king up everybods Saturday evening.............then I find out .......THEN I find out ............ Hah..........hah............. :argh:
  17. 'm sorry............ 'm verry verry sorry  :embarassed:
  18. Did our beloved leader forget to pay the rent again ? I was having a quiet wander around the pages last night ,went to move on an suddenly I was locked outside the back door . :shake: Tried to get back in a few times but just kept getting the server's page with a message telling me the site was temporarily unavailable . I mean....I can take a hint .......if it was something I said you only have to say guys........
  19. Just found an advert in my Classic Motor Monthly for The Wiring Harness Co . Derby - http://www.thewiringharness.co.uk . Open 7 days 8am-7pm 01332 810052 or 07885 490803 . Might be worth a look . I also had a loom for my 1936 10cwt Morris from Autosparks which was 99% spot on , reasonable price and pretty quick delivery . Can't find a number for them at the mo but i have a feeling the name changed a little while ago . Sorry , not very helpful that I realise ! DM
  20. Not a steamer is it - Foden maybe ?
  21. I've done that once or twice in the past & it works quite well on something as uncomplicated as an elderly Landy . I'd guess a Jeep would be pretty much the same always assuming , of course , as poptopshed has already said , you don't mind a little unoriginality.
  22. Even though ours is only a small enterprise we always stop work 11/11 . Working in Colchester town centre a few years back we stood out in the street and heard those of an older generation than ours walking by and saying "listen to that , what are they doing letting fireworks off at this time of day ?". I have always looked upon Remembrance day as just that - in memory of those who fell in ALL conflicts.
  23. I would also like a pair in large please Jack .
  24. I might be asking something too obvious but could you translate small , medium , large etc into chest sizes - if poss - please Jack , I normally take a 42" in my standard workie Blue Castle but not too sure how that translates . Thanks . DM
