  1. Hi Fred, My understanding is that when in the field, kit is stowed where it will fit! Here is a picture of my Ferret with the D10 reel just hooked over the rear hull plate. I think it looks pretty good! Cheers Chris
  2. The Helmet is 6 3/4 1942 Leather jerkin is well worn and large 1940 pattern BD blouse size 13 1941 size 9 pantaloons size 7m boots Goggles have replacement strap, so very usable gloves are large, rabbit skin lined with sheepskin in the gauntlet. 3. Have now got the bike home. It is better than it looks in the picture! Sounds great too! Needs MOT so need to sort out a stop lamp and a reflector. Did military bikes of this era not have a stop lamp? I have some history with the bike which I will post later. I am only the third owner since release in 1958. I now have a full Despatch riders uniform for sale and a Manekin. If anybody is interested please contact me, otherwise it will be good old Ebay. How is the new truck No Signals? Any pics yet? Chris
  4. Hi David, I hope it is as good as it looked! Only 2 more days till I collect. I didn't bid on the Triumph. I will post some pics when I get the BSA home. Chris
  5. I saw it earlier this year and thought it looked pretty good. It wasn't going to disappear anytime soon afterall it is armoured everything inside had already gone anyway so it wasn't going to get anyworse. It has looked the same for years. I don't believe a private individual should get our great city's monument! I do believe it needed to moved to another position! Chris
  6. It doesn't sound like it should have been sold at all. this is an email from a friend of mine Paul Watson who is trying to find out where the tank has gone. Tank disappeared about a fortnight ago – various tales are abroad including that it's former owner took it back because it was getting wrecked. Had Sheffield Archaeology Service look into it and it was sold by Price Waterhouse Coopers to a collector ? Methinks it's heading for a collection in Kent but no one wants to admit it. The sale was dubious as it was still owned by the relatives of Newton Chambers who hadn't given their permission it seems, so watch this space as Andy and I have opened a city wide can of worms. This tank has been a landmark and monument in Sheffield for years, and was placed there to remind us of the city's contribution to the war effort.
  7. Hi, I am seething this morning, just found out that the Churchill tank that has stood as a monument at the old tank factory in Sheffield as been stolen! I have done a google search, and there seems to be no mention of it. I have also searched the local paper's web site and nothing there. Does nobody care anymore? What can we do? who do I need to put pressure on? Any ideas much appreciated. Cheers Chris
  8. Hi, The fully dressed manakin comes with the bike! :-) Not sure if I'm the dummy for buying it without seeing it. Chris
  9. Not heard it yet. Heres another pic
  10. Thought I would treat myself for Christmas! :-D The wife is getting some perfume, so she will be happy. 1942 BSA M20. I collect it on the 19th. I got it off ebay. I know you shouldn't buy anything without seeing it but I was drunk when I put the bid on Chris
  11. Hi, Can I have 1 please Chris
  12. Hi No Signals I found a paint shop in Sheffield that will mix up the paint to match the vehicle! They can mix up any amount. You need to take them the vehicle. Pm me and I will let you have the address. Chris
  13. [it never ceases to amaze me that after £16 Million or £22 Million or what ever - we still end up with a museum that looks no better than a B&Q DIY store! I be they don't pay £22M. I do a lot of Training for the likes of Marks & Spencer's. £22mil is not out of the norm for a refit. I was in Cheshunt last week and they just spent £27mil! They now talk in millons how they used to talk in thousands. Most of the money spent is probably just waste, consultants, pr etc. Lat year Children in need raised £33 million, lots of people working really hard to raise money. When you put this in the context of one superstore spending this on one shop it is discusting Chris
  14. What is the world coming to. I am thinking of doing the opposite to a 5 series BMW  Somebody must like it already one bid at £15.000 :schocked: Chris

    Help wanted

Hi Guys, Thanks for the advice and info! Once removed I will take the old seal to my local seals and bearings supplier, and see if they can match it up. If not I will try Bannister's, when I rang Bannister's yesterday they wanted the part number, will this be on the seal? I have a scanned parts list on PDF, but it is very difficult to read. Does anybody have the part number? Regards Chris

  22. Hi thedawnpatrol, Found 2 of those in the local antique emporium earlier this year! Same with the storage tags. I won't embarrass you by saying how much they were. Chris
  23. Hi, Collected this today. I was inspired by the Ferret in service pictures posted by safariswing. The transit case is original but the practice round is from something different, it looks the part but don't know what it is from. Looks like Russian writing. Chris
  24. Hi, I like them all! But it may have to be the Cruel Sea! Cheers Chris
