  1. Stencils are any size I choose ! I print em out on Manilla card and use a craft knife. 3" on the Bumpers.
  2. The symtoms you describe are more likely Constant Velocity joints rather than wheel bearings. Taper Roller bearing failure would certainly knock in a "straight line" position and not only in the steering position. The "one knock" per rev syndrome on steering, is most likey to be CV problems. Dodgy balls old boy ! Do you have Rzeppa axles or Bendix Tracta joints. ? As for the "how critical is it" bit, if its making a noise............. it aint right !
  3. I'll try to get up there today and have a measure, Circa 4'0" OD wouldnt be too far out. But it does have 3 sticky out bits to mount the uprights, which makes it not round ! Sticks are about 6'6". You still looking for a 50 Deact ? I've just had one offered me, but no details (price) yet
  4. ....and rubber was in such short supply. Not a tyre to be seen.
  5. On this day in 1945, Joe Rosenthal took that picture on Iwo Jima.
  6. Over two seasons running, towing and low gear parade driving, I've returned an average of 10.7 mpg. On a tank to tank refill I've achieved 12.9 mpg. No I dont coast down all the hills. The trick is in the gearbox...use it.
  7. how come the clock is two hours ahead of the actual time Its Jacks version of daylight savings so he's up in time to see the for sale adds.
  8. So you gonna make it this year Jack, there,s still that beer you owe me. Be a good first outing for the track !
  9. To most people February 14th is a special day. In 1945 it was the second day of Operation Thunderclap. On the 13th Feb 1945 244 Lancasters dropped more than 800 tons of bombs on Dresden, a second wave of 529 Lancasters followed just three hours later with a further delivery. In total over 1800 tons of bombs dropped that first night. The resulting firestorm asphyxiated thousands and turned every organic object in its path to cinders. Those who dived into rivers, pools and lakes in the city parks, were boiled alive. Estimates of the dead range from 40,000 to 135,000. The RAF too paid its price, with nine aircraft lost. On the evening of the 14th feb and again on the 15th 311 American B-17's dropped a further 771 tons of bombs on the already devastated city. It was no ordinary Valentines Day.

  13. I personally think Caen is an important place to visit. It may not be scenic, but it is historically the most heavily shelled town in history. We should remember that. If only for the civilian losses.

  21. But the "Dragon" was officially reclassified to 3.0 mtrs to allow its use. The odd decimal bits being conveniently forgotten! Oh yes they were.
  22. beat that!!! Make it an open cab.............. and it would.
  23. Tootallmike, thanks for the thought. Yes I'm still interested in split drive flanges, perhaps you can drop me an e-mail to Belringer @ ntlworld.com . I had considered machining some hubs out, but after experimenting I'm not totally convinced that a "real" saving is to be had. It may well lessen steering problems and reduce the noise a little, but is the hassle worth it, when you actually do get stuck ! If like Dr deuce I was doing high milage it might be worth it, but by the time you've fitted bigger tyres, larger engine and an auto box , you might as well have started with a different vehicle in the first place ! I like my jimmy just the way she is,....... Vanilla.
  24. Joris, who is this guy then ?
