  1. Quick reply Clive. Thanks.

it was one of those thought you have when you peruse eBay and Milweb etc.

just wondered, and you are best placed to know why.

i understand why we Humber owners must secure parts for the future of our vehicles, even when we ultimately pass them onto the next curator etc.

  2. Hi all

is it me or are the Humber GS and Pig parts etc in short supply.

i accept other items cross over from the MV ranges of Champ, Ferrett etc.

However specific Pig items are scarce and I wonder why.

is someone sat on a stock pile waiting to sell to the highest bidder?

interested in others thoughts on this.

    regards

  3. Is it possible to have a "Wanted" prefix in the classified section?

There are various options of "For Sale" but not a ready made & highlighted "Wanted" prefix.

It self-evident of course that it is wanted by posting in the "Wanted" section but most of us I imagine view the "New Posts" section rather than visit each sub-section individually. Often I see a subject that sounds interesting to debate only to find that it is just a wanted advert.

Many of us try to remember to prefix our title with "Wanted" but it is easy to forget & there is no mechanism for the poster to edit & add this to the title. Even when we do remember it is not striking as the bold highlight given to a "For Sale" advert.

    Many thanks.

A Wanted Man then Clive??? .........

  4. I thought about buying one of these to tow behind the Acmat but my motorcycle I believe is 2.5m long,

I got offered an Acmat trailer for 3500eu, but I declined

I towed a Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm in a Sankey diagonally before, albeit with tailboard down.

An Arrows would do that easily without Hick-up.

  5. My first was a Rover8 FFR 'Toastie' that had been quite messed with by a farmer, but was a runner.

I remember the rear cross member was a hot rolled steel channel :nut: welded in!

  6. What I need is a copy of the technical manual for it. especially the operation of the brake system. Also the proper canvas cover for it would be nice. So if anyone has those items please let me know.

I might be able to help a little there, albeit I will need to scan the document and upload etc.

Which model do you have? Early or later?

    Cheers

  7. Thank you for posting those Nigel. I've photoshopped it to give:

This is 27BK99 I assume, which in normal parlance is a Mk 2. I suspect you said it was a Mk 1 based on the body contract plate above the mesh cable protector in the cab below the passenger window. That relates to the original conversion to a Pig in 1959-60. Normally this would be covered up by the front scuttle armour in a Mk 2. The Mk 2 plate, which is larger, would be in the vicinity of the driver, these plates tend to get nicked at an early stage.

(Wayne is probably chuckling because to complicate things further some Mk 1 Pigs that were never up-armoured to Mk 2 status but have the original cab plate stamped as Mk 2. More commonly no Mk is stamped. The reason is that the original Mk 1 was actually the FV1609, the production Pigs FV1611 & FV1612 were the real Mk 2. But when the MOD proceeded in Op Bracelet to up-armour the Pigs they didn't realise this & designated these modified Pigs as Mk 2 whereas they should have designated them Mk 3)

Probably best to ignore the last paragraph as it makes life easier :D

    Yes ;)

I know I have an 'Not', up armoured MkII.

I've a plate to prove it as well!

Nice to see some original details still in place.

yet to see another with turn and dip switch rain shroud though :P

  8. Noted but epoxy primer is what I spec on structural steel and whilst a nut may shave it doesn't sheer or flake at all.

good shout on rear though! Advice noted and appreciated as always.

It all depends upon logistics as moving wheels about to a blaster / primer is a task in itself!

It may well result in needle gun and cups.

You are 100% right about cup swarf missiles!! OUCH!!!!

  9. I have a pair of stands rated at 3t each and another pair at 6t each.

I was going to go big at front. I was also going to site on a bearing plate as a platform.

My trolley jack is 3.5t so should be ample to raise each corner.

Wheels against a wall is a given.... I don't need a hernia trying to upright one. That's for sure!

Whilst off I can get wheels refurbished and blasted / Epoxy primed etc.

    Big jobbie

  10. Thanks.

Wasn't sure if you had a different approach.

But of course copper wouldn't be strong enough for brakes. :nut:

I update on progress as I get her opened up etc.

Out of interest are the flexible pipes common to another commercial vehicle?

I do have a few spares rubber brake hoses so may be okay, but curious as new is always the best and safest option!
