  1. Quick reply Clive. Thanks. it was one of those thought you have when you peruse eBay and Milweb etc. just wondered, and you are best placed to know why. i understand why we Humber owners must secure parts for the future of our vehicles, even when we ultimately pass them onto the next curator etc.
  2. Hi all is it me or are the Humber GS and Pig parts etc in short supply. i accept other items cross over from the MV ranges of Champ, Ferrett etc. However specific Pig items are scarce and I wonder why. is someone sat on a stock pile waiting to sell to the highest bidder? interested in others thoughts on this. regards
  3. I towed a Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm in a Sankey diagonally before, albeit with tailboard down. An Arrows would do that easily without Hick-up.
  4. Early one like mine. I've the documentation for later one. However difference appears to be the legs. ill copy and post to you. PM me your address. Cheers
  5. The give away is the support legs. Early = one at rear underneath. Parallel to tailgate. Later = three legs like a Sankey. cheers
  6. My first was a Rover8 FFR 'Toastie' that had been quite messed with by a farmer, but was a runner. I remember the rear cross member was a hot rolled steel channel :nut: welded in!
  7. I might be able to help a little there, albeit I will need to scan the document and upload etc. Which model do you have? Early or later? Cheers
  8. Terry.... Ouch?? ill remember to wear toe tector boots that day ill also have a shovel handy!! cherrs
  9. Nice update too Clive for your articles etc! We all enjoy them ' Massively ' we all print and save them too! Best wishes
  10. We have similar stable mates Nigel. Shame you are not closer, but not a million miles away I guess?
  11. Yes I know I have an 'Not', up armoured MkII. I've a plate to prove it as well! Nice to see some original details still in place. yet to see another with turn and dip switch rain shroud though
  12. Hi Nigel Where are you based in Gloucester ? Are you need Rampant Rivet in Cinderford!
  13. Noted but epoxy primer is what I spec on structural steel and whilst a nut may shave it doesn't sheer or flake at all. good shout on rear though! Advice noted and appreciated as always. It all depends upon logistics as moving wheels about to a blaster / primer is a task in itself! It may well result in needle gun and cups. You are 100% right about cup swarf missiles!! OUCH!!!!
  14. I have a pair of stands rated at 3t each and another pair at 6t each. I was going to go big at front. I was also going to site on a bearing plate as a platform. My trolley jack is 3.5t so should be ample to raise each corner. Wheels against a wall is a given.... I don't need a hernia trying to upright one. That's for sure! Whilst off I can get wheels refurbished and blasted / Epoxy primed etc. Big jobbie
  15. The EMER states 5/16" pipes throughout on brakes, which suggests you have experienced two sizes? I will need to expose and investigate further no doubts. Getting her on the monster axle stands is first task and removing the wheels etc. I remember your suggestion for removing the wheels using a fulcrum as they are Fekin HEAVY!
  16. Hi Nigel A fellow Pig and Landy owner neighbours too i live in ross welcome to the forum
  17. Thanks. Wasn't sure if you had a different approach. But of course copper wouldn't be strong enough for brakes. :nut: I update on progress as I get her opened up etc. Out of interest are the flexible pipes common to another commercial vehicle? I do have a few spares rubber brake hoses so may be okay, but curious as new is always the best and safest option! Ta
  18. Sounds like a Winter project. :cool2: did you use 10mm / 3/8" heating pipes for both fuel and brakes or the slightly smaller 8mm tubing? cheers :-\
  19. Now charging at 27.5v need to do a load test for amps once all light up and running. Onto brakes next.
  20. Found this which suggests lithium grease type 2 http://www.ihs.com/products/industry-standards/org/ministry-defence-uk/list/page61.aspx
  21. What is the modern version of that please. That is! Assuming there is a modern product, comparable for use etc. Thanks
