  1. I have heard many tales on some being rubbish and other suggestions being down right dangerous etc. Has anyone had good results with a particular product or mix that doesn't cost the earth or destroy the holding tank / pump etc? I have soaked parts in the past in a 50/50 mix of paraffin and diesel in a bucket, which did unseize them too. Is this a safe product to use for a parts washer instead of a solvent based one? Any experiences shared and appreciated etc. Thanks All
  2. A General question to the series 2/ 2a owners out there that have either an FFR or GS with Dexion fitted. The correct fitting in a Rover Mk8 was that the uprights for the Dexion support also had the first roof hoop as an integral part. I wondered if any owners had this original item still in place. It is my opinion that as and when a need for the canvas roofs to be removed in service was needed that an alternative was used. Namely the upright bracket that became common in the series 3 FFR's. I was curious if my interpretation was accurate or there was another base modification reasoning! All the literature shows the correct Dexion support / hoop, but I have never seen one in the flesh or possibly on our threads. They seem to be the Holy Grail on a Toastie Rover 8 or 9?? Cheers and a Happy New Year
  3. Would it not be sensible to have the correct but empty extinguisher and bracket in the vehicle. With a modern gauged extinguisher that is CE marked and to a current standard as a loose item with the parts and tools you carry etc. I think from a safety perspective I would not use either an old Pyrene BCF type extinguisher full stop as they contain asbestos! Just my four peneth as this is my approach only but seems the safest (To Me )
  4. Does anyone know the thread of the manifold to downpipe studs on a Piggy please. Obviously imperial but are they common to other vehicles like series 2 land rover. Thanks
  5. No thanks as I don't like how it tarnishes aluminium or alloys.... Salt is in dishwasher tabs, so it instantly corrodes steel.... Also Rachel would ABSOLUTELY Kill Me
  6. Cheers matey Where do you purchase yours from ? Local ?? Good to see you too
  7. What do you guys find works best in your parts washers?
  8. Thank you for clarity. Every day is a School Day
  9. Are you sure as my mates a fire arms officer with the Met and he tells me otherwise. Blank can still seriously injur someone at close quarters. if I've got this wrong then I've been I'll advised by police and MoD.
  10. Gents it is both a military and civil offence to have upon ones person live or blank ammunition or parts there of on their possession. If you later find any live rounds, blank rounds, empty cases or pyrotechnics on your person you must hand them in. THIS APPLIES TO SOLDIERS AND THE CIVILIAN WORLD. for those of you that haven't followed this you are breaking the law. Please surrender to the nearest police station or TA centre with evidence of where you found it. If it's not on your FAC as ammunition you will be arrested and charged. Its not for debate and my duty to inform you to deal with anything on yourselves swiftly. Don't ignore this! You've gone public on a Forum! Thank you.
  11. Did you call RLC bomb squad? its an offence otherwise as pyrotechnics and parts of ammunition under military and civil law
  12. I suspect TA Regt just slapped it on neat mate, as it's sprawled off in areas. Even off DBG on bodywork. Thats for info though! :-D
  13. Does Removing Paint using a stripping product affect the Galv. Think not but worth a query to preserve existing Galv finish on my toastie. Or have people immersed parts in another solution to remove paint and protect Galv ?? Cheers
  14. Totally agree Richard about brakes, especially something this hefty . Great contact and I will look into it for sure. Thanks Clive. They should be a great place to start and produce the goods to the highest standards. I'll know more as I start taking the brake system into strip down and evaluation. Cheers both :-D
  15. Appears to be two part numbers too. LV9/BOE/FV174998 or LV9/BOE/FV228518. Is there a reason for this Clive?
  16. Yes Hoses.......Parts List says Hoses! My Mistake ...... wrong terminology is a bad thing to write. LoL :nut: Very Confusing of Course!:embarrassed::blush:
  17. Were your end fittings Metric as I think that's where the old British Vehicles might struggle wit all the old Imperial fittings out there. Its always worth a go though! Anything can be done, but cost can be an issue of course
  18. That's what I suspected. The last 2' of mine has gone  Right hit at the last hanger bracket, so probably can cut back and fit an extension before bracket with a straight section about 3' long ?
  19. Great advice. Yes I have a NOS silencer and spare downpipe. if you don't want if replaced the silencer I will take off your hands as an emergency item I can future repair. If that's agreeable? With downpipe in trailer I will have a spare system in the main. Have you ever replaced the pipe to rear before? Was it genuine or alternative?? cheers
