Probably not this yard, but one of the scrapyards had several Churchills on it - I even saw images of an FT-17

It was taken right at the end of Union St. outside the Union Rooms Pub.. I spend every July in Plymouth (and have done for several years) so i've got pretty accustomed to the 'Grottiness' of Union St. :cry: As I said the Coyotes and Jackals are built in the Devonport base so, logically, they take them out for road-testing in Plymouth. A few years ago I went on a tour of the base and noticed that another thing they do there is refurbishing trains. Fortunately they AREN'T test-driven on the streets...:-D

They (allegedly) only put the full weapons package on when test-driving at night. During the day, sidearms are usually sufficient. :shocked:

They're built in Devonport. They test drive the Jackals and Cougars (that's a Cougar) along the streets of Plymouth. :-\

It MAY be more unusual than it seems. In 1944, a handful of Para-Type smocks were issued to certain Army units. As far as I can remember, from something I read recently, they didn't have any camo-pattern either. I'll do some more checking...

Yes there is. A few years ago, the Spanish government restored an Ausf. H to FULL running condition. Spain was the last European country to use the Pz IV (and Stug). Nice you may think. However, at a time when some TRULY unique vehicles such as several Pz 1s sit mouldering on army bases (imagine a Pz 1 with M113 tracks and you'll get the idea ), a collection of Artillery pieces including some unique examples is apparently MIA. Loads of Flak 18 & 36s here as well. I even saw an LCM3 in the Spanish Naval academy. I'll try to dig out some pics later. :-\

Thanks, the reason for my seemingly mad question is relatively simple. The tilts on most models are usually one-piece mouldings (or in case of resin, castings) Now they vary from the excellent to poor. I'm toying with the idea of producing a series of templates for several vehicles (1/35th & 1/48th scale). I've also worked a bit with various materials (primarily draughtsman's linen) which gives a more convincing sag and more idea of scale thickness.. :-\ Thanks for the replies!

OK typical bloody daft modeler question, but regarding Canvas tilts, how would one go about getting dimensions of them in a flat state? Imagine, taking a tilt (let's say the Beford QL for the sake of argument) opening it up flat on the floor. Is there any source I could go to to get dimentsions? What about construction? Logically they weren't produced in some impressively large weaving machine. They must have been produced in sections then stiched together. Told you it was a daft question... :-D

High-res (modern) pics needed of cab interior/layout. I already have some scans of workshop manuals which shows some detail but it'd be nice to compare the two...:-\ Images of both Early & Late cab construction. I agree, they are shipping boxes. The one which is often seen (prior to loading for the Normandy landings) is a real heavy gunge which is dark-colored. Could be that the sealant has soaked into the plywood? I love this bit with the 'Double-headers' It's a fantastic pic - thanks for sharing it!:-\

Primarily a modeller whose predominant interest lies with WWII Allied vehicles. The Austin Tilly is becoming a big obsesion at the moment - thanks to Mike Shackleton's encouragement :cheesy: . I'm heavily involved with one of the largest of the military modelling Websites. I'm also lucky enough to spend every july in Devon - where i'm a regular attendee at the Buckfastleigh rally of the Devon MVT and try to visit Cobbaton every year as well. Living in a flat (albeit with my own parking space) makes it improbable i'll get myself a Dodge WC anytime soon... :cry:

This seems to have widespread on RAF vehicles as well from the photos i've found. Please correct me if i'm wrong! Now there's a website somewhere which DOES have a good colour matches of the British Standard colours.

1/35th Scale and, yes, it's Styrene. Coming (hopefully) from SKP Model. It's the second that was announced in plastic withing a couple of days. This one from IBG Model in Poland... Not exactly raining Bedfords, but it's a good start:-D
