  1. What is the RAF vehicle behind the Stolly? Do you have another picture of it please?
  2. Had a great day out yesterday and I really recommend to anyone with an offroad vehicle to try one of these days - loads of space to play in, friendly people, and a variety of tracks, mud and sand to enjoy. There are a few photos in this album of my 110 and the Ural getting rather stuck, and some of the Mogs: AWDC_Bordon_May09 Also present was a 101, a Zil, a Stalwart, a couple of Pinzgauers (one 4x4, one 6x6), lots of Landys and Suzukis, some shiny modern stuff that didn't want to get dirty and two Jeeps.
  3. Yes, thats true for established events but for a new show you will attract better traders if you keep the commision to nil, if you need help with the costs ask for a donation from profits but setting pitch fees will deter a lot of people, especially smaller, better quality stalls with lower margins.
  4. I'm hoping to attend but will be in nothing more interesting than a civvy 110.
  5. Gareth, Don't forget to speak with your local council's licencing department about a suitable licence to allow for a) the provision of regulated entertainment b) the sale of alcohol c) provision of late night refreshment etc etc. Because you are aiming for a good attendance it is likely that more than 499 people will be present (including staff) and therefore you will need to apply for a temporary premises licence, rather than the more straight forward Temporary Event Notice. This will take a lot of time and paperwork (and money) so make sure you do it sooner rather than later. Having said all that, I'm not going to Beltring so if you were organising this a bit closer to Wiltshire I would love to come along with a cider stall! Best of luck with the event.
  6. Is it a Vityaz - here are some other videos/information: http://bolotohod.ru/en/emain/ I cannot get the original video to load.
  7. Can you elaborate on this one at all? I've not heard it.
  8. Looks like a good job, one hint is that if you want the trailer socket out the way it fits very neatly in the jacking point on the right hand side, which OK you lose the use of, but it keeps the socket up out of the dirt.
  9. I went to see Rob and his trucks last weekend, especially the Zil135. The "missiles" are fabricated from steel pipe complete with welded guidance fins and smaller tubes at the rear for the rocket motors. Rob doesn't do things by half - they look very good until you stand behind them and realise there is nothing inside the pipes. The sound of 2 x 7 litre V8 petrols running in unison in a workshop is something to behold!
  10. Hi Not trying to break up the party but digging a little deeper on the DVLA site (I'm interested in downplating my vehicle to 3.5 tonnes) led me to this section: Maximum authorised mass The term maximum authorised mass (MAM), which is also known as gross weight and permissible maximum weight, is the maximum weight of the vehicle that may be used on the road including the maximum load the vehicle may safely carry. This is normally shown on a plate fitted to the vehicle. If a vehicle is unlikely to be used at its potential maximum weight most vehicles may be downplated, i.e. the vehicles springs or other components can be changed, so that only a lighter load can be carried. The maximum authorised mass or gross weight is a factor in determining what driving entitlement is required. on this page: http://tinyurl.com/69mpy3
  11. The Stonefield is much prettier! They were designed in Scotland as a replacement for the LR101, the UK Army rejected them so they went on to various civilian duties. Mine was an HTV outside broardcast vehicle. The Malay Army did buy some though. Production finished around 1984.

  13. @Tony B: At our place we had a Stonefeild lovley bit of kit, wonder where it has gone? I doubt it was yours but I have recently bought one and it is now living in Salisbury if you want to re-live your memories.
  14. Do you have a higher-res image please? I would love to see what is there. Thanks.
  15. Wow, what a fantastic day! I really wanted to attend but couldn't square manage it. What are the chances of this being organised again in the future? Was there enough interest for the AWDC to lay it on again?
