  1. The Day at Bishop Auckland started at 9:15 in slightly damp conditions. While the rest of the country was seeing heavy rain, the day at Bishop started with just drizzle. We met in the local supermarket car park with four Jeeps, a Dodge and Staff Car. From there we paraded through the high street, then drove around the block before parking back in the high street. Another Jeep arrived a little later in the day. http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mvtne/events_pics/07/bishop/bishop1.jpg[/img] http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mvtne/events_pics/07/bishop/bishop2.jpg[/img]
  2. No flooding up here in the North, actually, not much in the way of rain either. Had a grand day out with the vehicles today at Bishop Auckland town centre. Raised lots of money for charity too. Steve
  3. Excellent, a good heads up. I'm heading there with Joris in August, and looking forwards to it. Steve
  4. I'd trust him with the cushions, he has the experience! Steve
  5. It's all the trouble makers who have gone! :-D It's nice and quiet here now. Steve
  6. Thanks. The engine was the same to turn over as mine is. I know the starter has done this several times before now I recognise the sound. I didn't realise at first, but popped the hood and saw the the enging wasn't turning over. Batteries are new, so aren't the issue. Must be the gear. Steve
  7. My mate George came around in his Jeep at the weekend. As he went to leave, the starter motor was turning over but not engaging with the engine. I cranked it on my starting handle a couple of times but it wouldn't fire, then tried the starter again and it engaged and started. I presume it is the motor gear that engages with the engine, that is not moving into the engage position as the motor starts turning. What is the problem and what is the fix for the starter? Is it a simple lube job or something more? Steve
  8. If I had a crane handy, I might have considered it. As it was, I had it on ramps. It was my flatbed trailer I was painting, not a little Jeep trailer, and that is somewhat larger and heavier!
  9. Hey! they aren't that big yet!!!!! I'm not even a size that would require a trainer bra! But camo is probably something to keep in mind for future years! Steve
  10. "Some additional parts may be necessary to complete this kit!"
  11. He's an amateur compared to Jack!! :-D Steve
  12. Nice pics. The sun was in a great position for good photos. You must have been using quite a fast shutter speed to stop the props. What settings were you using? I've only managed to get down to 1/320th, after that I start blurring pics. Steve
  13. You're not the only one having picture problems! I had to refresh your last thread several times as pictures didn't appear. This one is OK so far. Steve
  14. Would prefer coffee rather than tea, but if there's something stronger???????? Steve

  20. Jack 'Should' have the CD by now. It was posted on Monday so maybe he's having a sneak preview! Steve
  21. While in uniform, I took the opportunity for some other pics, one of which is me on the tower, waiting for the bombers to come home. I also forced Lynne into her HBT's for a photograph looking like she knows what she is doing with a spanner! Afterwards, I put on my flight kit for some other pics around the tower. Steve
  22. On the 27th June, I headed off to Station 139 - Thorpe Abbotts, on the Norfolk/Suffolk border. For some time now, I've wanted to take my Jeep there and recreate a wartime picture that my Jeep scheme was based on. Having the Jeep in the area for 'Operation Bolero' gave me the ideal chance. The museum itself began in 1977, and is probably the best museum to the 8th Air Force in England. The pictures below show the tower as it was found in 1977, and as it is today. A great deal of work has been carried out over the years expanding the buildings to create more display areas, but with the founders of the museum 30 years on from the start, they are looking for new members to help run the place. My picture recreation fortunately had good sunny weather, unusual for June this year. The original picture featuring the Group Engineering Officer, Eugene "Butch" Rovegno, was taken from the balcony of the tower, looking towards the Night Flying Equipment Store. The positioning of myself and the Jeep isn't exactly right, but close enough.
