Thanks for all the info.
I was planning on going down on Wednesday but I have to go to Middleborough Monday and Leicester on Wednesday. The good part is I will keep the company car and scoot down on Thursday.
If anyone needs anything carried down between Cambridge and all these locations let me know as can chuck in the sedan

Just got back from said boot sale which I have a look at almost every time I come over. Sometimes you see some odd stuff. As always I bought a few bits.
What would this protractor be for?

A nice selection of boxes with the the big ones around 20 quid

I picked up this artillery table and bino's. I picked up the table as I am going to W&P on Thursday if someone wants it for their display? Anyone going to W&P have a case that would fit the bino's?

G'day
I do so much miss the drop bears and the unsuspecting American soldier. The hoop and cigarette snakes also had them on their toes also.
Koalas loved to be hugged, just like a teddy bear........ oh and kangaroo feathers

Yep all different to the last time, but as said that was ages ago. The two things I never saw this time was:
- bid too low notification (I had that once although guide price was zero)
- been outbid before and got a notification
Anyway here's to hoping as typically I found them ok to deal with the few times i bought stuff
-
Just curious as been watching the clock tick down on the tender all day as had a confirmed bid in on something.
But now after the time everything in the website i.e. current bid, unsuccessful bid is blank...... is this normal? Also didn't get any notifications:
Notification that you have been outbid
Confirmation that you have won/lost an auction/tender.
Notification of new items listed on the website based on your bidding preferences
Last time I bought anything it was before the new version of the website, so curious if they update later or its fffffffffff as last time, way back in 2008 they sent an email, fairly quickly

has half a tank of fuel though

yep that correct.... I have several pictures in the Port Dickson thread.
From other pictures of the accident it has either veered into the concrete barrier at speed or the front rh wheel has snapped off. The other pictures have a lot of gore in them as looks like 2 occupants were thrown out. I cant see the turret hatches so perhaps it slid on its roof at one point........ no good either way

I think its a condor variant

G'Day & Welcome
We got a few guys here that would restore that
I got a good friend in the states and his vehicle is a mis-dropped Steyr truck, but it did not hit as hard as your Land Rover

Mike - I think I've found your loco!
Supplied 5th Jan 1965 to ICI Malaya, 34 Tons, Metre gauge, Works No. D1336, Diesel Hydraulic.
The engine details are 250NHRS-6-IPTC/7W10701. This I take to be a Cummins NH250 and the whole thing could be the engine serial no.
Once I had found my HC Works List it was quite easy as this was the only metre gauge diesel they made. It has to be metre gauge if its task was to move mainline wagons in Malaya.
The only other similar sized locos - all exported - appear to have been a 38T loco to 3'6" gauge supplied 1963 to Malawi - again with NH250xxx engine, two to BP Nigeria - 34T and 3'6" gauge in 1965 - NH242xxx engines(?), and one 34T loco 3'6" gauge to Zambian cement works 1967
So D1336 it is then?
:wow::cool2: Cheers, I'll have to see if one of the guys can get down there and see if it has a plate still in it.
I think my friends want me to price up an engine rebuild..... with me doing the work.

nice find

It's apparently in a fertilizer factory in Kuala Lumpur. It's nice or perhaps sad to see an old bit of machinery from a defunct company sitting in a shed in Malaysia.

I got sent some pictures of a narrow gauge Hudswell locomotive today and after a bit of a search around I found this company did some military related work. Also it is not listed as a surviving example.
The owners want to run it up so looking for info and I am also wondering if this might have been looted from Singapore when it fell

Hi fesm_ndt
Thanks for the comment, Ive just had a look at your link that must have been an incredible experience! I notice you say you miss your Lightweight what was her fate?
I sold it shortly after the trip to finance a bigger vehicle for another go at crossing Australia as wanted a bit more space, as sleeping on a picnic table and the ground was a bit too gung ho.
But that was now nearly 6 years ago and 3 MV projects later I still haven't gone on the long drive. Now onto my 4th MV project, hopefully this one will be the next overland vehicle (or the missus will kill me ).

It is an excellent job, one of the nicest Lightweight builds I have even seen.
I still miss my Lightweight that I gave a quickie rebuild, shipped to Australia and drove east coast to west http://www.lightweightlandroverclub.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=796&hilit=gimpy

101's but also got a hankering for a stalwart:cool:.
Welcome. That's a broad range. I guess both are brick shaped which is a good shape for a MV. Keeping an eye on ebay and milweb gives you plenty of ideas
I had a drive out Westmorland way recently and is an interesting landscape (as I live in Malaysia its different )

Yep easy way to check the gauges on a rover is easy as all you need to do is earth them i.e. the sender unit is a variable resister so when the tank is full it has less resistance. So if you connect the terminal that goes to the sender to earth the needle should go to full.
I cant see how it can go opposite unless the sender is somehow wired up in reverse ie becoming less resistant as it empties. Anyway if you check the gauge and it works, then you can fiddle with the sender.

I need to take a close up of the binos as curious how old they are
