  1. Those are beyond salvation from what I hear from a friend who has seen them. The seller wanted £1000 for the two of them which they won't be worth if they have been standing outdoors for many years.
  2. I quite liked the Gaz article:-D I'm apperently too ugly for publication but at least my daughter was happy she made it into the magazine. Haven't had a chance to read the rest but this is only the third issue I have read so I don't know what the standard is. I'm quite happy to read about non-WW2 vehicles.
  3. If anyone comes across one for sale in the UK please let me know. I had actually agreed to buy one not long ago but seller jumped ship when someone offered him more money. Promises counts for so little these days.
  4. John, thanks for letting me know. Mille will be delighted to hear it :yay: PS: The website say the magazine is published 2nd Friday of the month - you might want to change that
  5. I'm an IT Service Level Manager at one of the big mobile operators. Started off in IT Support many years ago. I'm self taught - no diplomas on my wall I'm afraid. For a couple of years I ran a web based business along with my day job. It was called Indoor Flyer selling micro R/C planes and accessories. Had a laser cutter for a while (for kit production) - I miss that. Closed it down when the recession started and sales dropped to 1/4 of what they used to be. A lot of wasted time and energy.........
  6. I'm OK to wait but my 11yo daughter is less patient because she may be in one of the pictures that go with the article.
  7. There is a picture of the November issue on the website now (issue 102 although they say issue 99). No mention of the Gaz so I guess it will be included at a later date.
  8. Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to wait until after Friday to see if anything turns up. I'm quite anxious to get it because there might be an article about my Gaz in it. The website says its published on the second Friday of the month and it has issue 100 as the latest issue. "Next months issue" is still referring to the June issue so I guess website maintenance is not on their list of priorities.
  9. The Freelander is good for up to 2000kg IIRC
  10. I took out a subscription but nothing has turned up. Website says it is published second Friday of the month but they are still showing the September issue. Anyone receive theirs yet?
  11. Us fans of the Warsaw Pacts finest already have a forum of our own. Perhaps that is the reason for the lack of interest here?
  12. I like to go to the flying displays and in the winter time I help clean the planes.
  13. I only just tried one for the first time this weekend and was surprised at how uncomfortable it is to drive off-road. I'm used to a nice soft-sprung Gaz69. I think I can safely say now that I don't want one although I did consider buying one in the past.
  14. Thanks for the info. I'm used to no synchro on 1st from my Gaz. I just got some more pictures and the old tinworm has had a good go on the cab and doors. It will require quite a bit of metal bashing and welding. I'm not sure if the seller will lower the price though. There are a some nice ones on Ebay but sadly outside of my budget (unless someone wants to make a joint offer with me on the nice pair that is for sale)
  15. Is the RL so obscure that no one here knows anything about it or is it just a case of people not looking in this sub-forum?
  16. I may be going to view a Beford RL soon (fingers crossed). Since I know very little about lorries in general and even less about old British lorries what are the things to look out for? Are there any spares that are unobtanium?
  17. Or rather: How many bunkers the Germans had slave workers build for them.
  18. Yup, that was me stuck in traffic on the M1! Next year I'll see if I can sneak out without taking my daughter so I can participate in the after hours festivities.
  19. I've read that and "Berlin" by the same author. Both well written books but they really do bring to the front the horrors of war. I woke from nightmares a couple of times after reading "Stalingrad" - something I normally don't experience.
  20. I'm after the somewhat elusive combination of something that is cheap and pre-1960. There was a running £700 Bedford RL on Milweb. It sold instantly (but is still listed). There is another RL but the seller does not respond. I need a runner as I already have enough "projects". I've agreed to buy a Praga V3S but it could be a long time before I get it and the condition is unknown so no saying how much work it will need. I would like something to cut my teeth on as driving a truck will be a new thing for me. I have had my eyes on a couple of SUMB but they are not all that popular so could be difficult to sell again. Most of what I have seen listed here recently has been fairly exotic or expensive vehicles.
  21. Nice weekend in good company. My 11yo daughter was no all to keen on going but she did enjoy herself, especially when she got a ride in the Saladin. I was really happy I got a chance to drive that and the GG.
  22. The Germans built a lot of fortifications along the Danish west coast. Many years ago attempts were made to blow them up but that was not a big success. Most have washed into the sea by now though. My grandmother was working in the restaurant at Aalborg Airport when the Germans bombed it during the invasion. The airport is shared by civilian aviation authorities and the RDAF. She was so frightened that she ran all the way home - over 15 kilometers! She once had the (dis)pleasure of serving Danish pastry (ironically called Wienerbrød - Viennese Bread - in Denmark) for Goering. He was apparently quite fond of it and put away a whole plateful.
  23. I find looking for vehicles on Milweb to be a mildy frustrating experience. Sometimes the vehicles on there are still listed long after they have sold and quite often you don't get a reply when you contact seller on the email address provided (no phone number). Other than this site or Ebay are there other places on the Internet where MV's are put up for sale?
  24. Thanks for the pictures. I'm from Aalborg but had no idea there was such a museum. Mind you, I haven't lived in Denmark since 2001. I must go and see it next time I'm in Aalborg.
