    answers to you summery

1, yes you can drive a tracked vehicle on the road with your car licence with a class H licence holder supervising with you and "L" plates displayed, A full car licence is a provisional licence for this class just like it is for an LGV PSA etc classes.

    Al,

I would have to disagree with you there, the info that the DVLA sent to me says otherwise, I'll try a dig out the letter but it went something like this..

    The Law says...

If you have a provisional licence to drive a car or other vehicle (except a motorbike):-

you must display ‘L’ plates on the front and back of the vehicle (or ‘D’ plates in Wales)

you must not drive on a motorway

if the vehicle has more than one seat, you must have someone with you whenever you are driving. The person supervising you must sit in the front passenger seat and be fit to drive the vehicle, for example, they must not be drunk. They must also be aged 21 or over and have had a full driving licence for at least three years.

The letter sent to me stated something like this..

If the tracked vehicle in question only has one front seat it is classed as a single seater & as such the driver can drive unsupervised on a provisional licence, the idea of being supervised is that someone can correct the steering if the driver gets in trouble..

  2. Thank you all for your answers and to summerise:

    1. I can drive a tracked vehicle on the road?

    2. Only need to take an H test?

    3. Do not need a crew to crew the tank?

    4. A tracked vehicle does not need to have rubber pads?

    1. yes

    2. Yes but can also drive unaccompanied (see No.3) on L plates, have details somewhere from DVLA stating that, also you must tell your insurance company that you only have a provisional licence for H Class if driving on L plates.

    3. Not recommended, when I had an accident in the Fox I was asked by the insurance company if I had a commander with voice communication..

    4. I thought the weight limit for metal tracks on the road was 5tons?? that's what I was told..

  3. to post photos you can to use a photohost like photobucket.

    http://photobucket.com/register.php

When using Photobucket or similar you should have a page like this once you have uploaded your photos:

    photohelp.jpg

what you need to do is highlight everything in the Img Box underneath the photo you want to post then copy & paste it in to your message, your photo won't appear untill you post or preview it..

  4. Cancelled my subscription as my copies kept going missing, suppose I'll see the posty driving around in a MV next year.. tried to get the latest copy but everywhere I've been has sold out

Finally managed to get a copy of CMV, great photo of my Fox, nice one Mark.. :-D

  5. Rick

You have to do - on the photobucket page, highlight all the info in the Img box under the photo you want to post, then Copy Paste into your post/message and it will appear when you preview the post. I had terrible trouble getting the hang of it. :computerterror: Good luck and Happy Christmas :-D

They have updated Photobucket now & all you have to do is click the IMG box & it's automatically copied ready to paste, no need to highlight & copy any more.. :-D

  7. I'm a bit wary of HotMail - too many viruses can turn up that way.

I use this place: http://www.another.com - you have to pay a yearly fee but you can have up to xx can;t recall the number now - but mines up around the 6 mark) e-mail addresses for that plus they participate in anti-spammer amd anti-virus procedures.

Never had a virus attack through hotmail :-)

  8. Terry does all his training on the road which is not ideal if you have never driven tracked before & it's in a Scorpion.

    H Licence training-one day course

Based in Kent, we offer a one day tracked vehicle training course, culminating in your H test. One to one tuition driving a full tracked vehicle on the road. £195 plus DSA test fee.

  9. You have got the correct manufacturer Lee but the listing you show is purely a tow rope not a KERR rope. I have used KERR ropes for many years and the capacity of the rope needs to be matched to the vehicles being used, at one time I owned an ex military KERR rope that had a large enough capacity to be used on MBT'S.

If you read Reply #8 thiat link refers to KERR Ropes, the link in Reply #13 was refering to Chris's coment in Reply #10

Most of the CVRT ropes you see about aren't the kinetic type.

  10. The biggest scam on milweb is that if you put more than a couple of adverts on there they think you are a dealer and expect you to pay the same fees as all the other dealers. I have been unable to advertise anything on there for the last year because I refuse to pay £80 a year.

    Chris

yep they did the same with my mate..
