  1. Many thanks, I did use the search facility but it didnt seem to work, no matter what i search for, it brings up exactly the same results!
  2. Sorry again for the dumb questions, but as some of you may know we are looking at getting an FV432. My concerns are if it breaks down, and it cant be fixed at the roadside, how do I get it back to its storage? Are there companies specifically for recovering larger vehicles or MV's? Also, what if I throw a track, or worse both!! Is it a case of being a 14tonne uncontrollable wrecker?
  3. Great thanks, that's about double of what a human exerts! Cheers
  4. I'm interested in buying an FV432, I have storage for it but the owner of the garden centre where it'll be stored has asked what the ground pressure is of the 432, as its built on an old mine!! I was going to work it out but I don't know the size of the track pads, how many are in contact with the ground at any time. Can anyone answer? Is the psi of the footprint much more than say a bin wagon or a 40ft lorry?? Cheers
  5. We are thinking of getting an MV, unsure what type but I really fancy an FV432. My questions are... 1. How reliable are they? 2. How often would it need servicing/brakes/clutch etc? 3. How much can we expect to pay for transport/low loader to and from shows? 4. What does the power pack weigh if lifted out? Cheers people, goofy questions I know, but they are bugging me!!
  6. Dont panic Andy. I dont have an MV at present so theres been no Avtur used on the roads! But, good point to note in the future!!
  7. Ive been looking into a few MV's over the past few years, Ive kept an eye on auctions etc and a few have stated 'runs on free fuel'. I know the K60 will run on nearly anything, but how is fuel obtained for free in civvie street?? I can currently get fuel (Avtur F-34) free from work (Legally) as the bowser lads drain 25ℓ from each bowser every morning and 99% is water free. The airport then pays to have this removed!! But how on earth do you obtain fuel for free if you dont work at an airport?? Please please PM me if you want to keep it a secret!! :-D
  8. It just looks like a strange place to be (Im assuming its a DUKW), and the left (our left) hand side of his head looks very cropped and he has no right (our left) shoulder!!! Im sure I know the gent in the RAF uniform, do you know him?
  9. Berni, is the guy in the pink paddling you's along or has the photo been doctored??!!
  10. Ive been looking at buying a Ferret for a few months now, but one thing I cant find any where is info on speeds and fuel economy. So, what would be a Ferrets max speed and best fuel economy (if we were to drive it to shows!!) Also, is there any way to hook up a sankey to one??
  11. What size NATO battery, is it for a vehicle or what. If you can be more specific I can check at work!
  12. Is there realistically anyone out there that has ever had their licence checked or been pulled onto a weighbridge? I think for my first piece of armour, a Ferret would be ideal, they are cheap and easier to maintain than anything tracked, unless anyone can suggest any thing else!
  13. I passed my test in 2000, so I am restricted to 3.5t. Most websites state Ferrets as 4.5-5.5t But there is something on this forum about driving vehicles registered before 1960 require only a B licence aslong as they are wheeled! So I could drive an Antar on my car licence because it was registered pre-1960! I would have to look into that. Someone also commented on the fact that the armour isnt classed as 'weight'. ie, if the Ferret wasnt fitted with Armour what would it weigh, probably not much more than a 110 or 101!!
  14. Do you need a Cat C license to drive a ferret, just thinking the weight of a Ferret is 3.7t, and the weight restriction on a Cat B Car is 3.5t. So my question, do you need a Cat C license??
  15. Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate it. I have owned loads of Ex-Mod Land Rovers, but never anything heavy!! Can Ferrets be driven on a cat B Car license??
  16. I have emailed Mike and asked for some photos and details. I will be going to Beltring so hopefully can have a look there. This will be far more practical than a 432 but I think a 432 will turn more heads to someone who doesnt know their vehicles. But yours is stunning. Things like recovery if broken down, recovery if stuck somewhere could be a problem in 432 too!!!!
  17. Is this true FF, do you have a Ferret for sale? Do you have any pictures, if so could you email them to diggerdog36@hotmail.com. Hopefully I am going to W&P show so I may have a little peep there, is it driveable on a car license or is it too heavy??

    Regards,

    Neil

  18. It looks awesome, I wanted an FV432 or similar, but I think I may have to start looking for something like this!! Its awesome! What is it like on fuel and what engine is it??
  19. Ha ha, that is the worst photoshopping ive ever seen!! Look at the chains and the 'mud' at the base of the gun. You can see the pixels!!!! Funny though!!
  20. Mine aren't not de-activated, they're live. Live ones are generally cheaper than de-acts because it costs about £40 to get them proofed after the de-act work has been done. You are looking around £250 for a decent one.......
  21. Well, heres a few of mine, both Live firers and both FOR SALE unfortunately. I just dont get the chance to use them anymore. The Mosin Nagant can hit whatever you point it at. As I found out at 1000yds at Stickledown range at Bisley!! The Lee Enfield is a Longbranch 1942 No4 MkII. The Mosin Nagant is a Izveshk 91/30 1944 sniper. If anyone is interested, I have loads of .303 drill rounds, cases (all war dated) stripper clips and No4 mags.
  22. I hadnt dismissed the 434! How longs a piece of string question time!! 1. How much would I expect to pay for road insurance, is it the same as a car, Fully Comp or TPF&T. Im 27 no points would be kept off the road 2. How much roughly would a low loader hire be from Leeds to Kent? 3. Are they generally reliable, I owned loads of ex-mod land rovers and they are pretty reliable, but am I in for a financial nightmare?
  23. Im new to this forum and was just looking for some answers to my questions. 1. Why dont 432's and 433's require MOT's 2. Are they tax exempt and if so, why? 3. Where is the best place to buy one from? Thanks guys.
