  1. The new traffic rules subscribe indicators, light and breaklights on the rear of each vehicle. Every Tilly-owner has his own view of how this should be. This is my Tilly tail.... Just found out, I need another taillight :-)
  2. There are not many wartime pictures of the Tilly tail. I found one of an earlier Tilly (according to the WD-number). This shows two taillights. I did know that the very early Tilly had two, but this picture suggest more contracts had twin taillights. The maintenance manual of March 1944 shows indeed a single taillight.
  3. That's a real project. I see the chassis is nearly ready. Or am I wrong? If you need some information, just ask. In the Netherlands another Tilly is almost restored.
  4. The Austin Ten saloon had the engine with waterpump after te war. The 1939 saloon has also a smaller engine of 1125cc, while the Tilly has a 1237cc engine.
  5. The best way to get started is joining the Tilly Register. You could place a wanted add in their quartly mag. http://www.tillyregister.com Some parts can also be found on a Austin Ten Saloon, except the doors. The Tilly has wider doors.
  6. Maybe this thread on MLU can help a bit? http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6155
  7. No worries.....those wheels wont be thrown away. We also found some T-Ford rims. It's amazing what stuff was used after the War in The Netherlands, just to make some trailers.
  8. During the cleanup of his property, my brother found this axl under a trailer. It was an old trailer of a farmer. The axle belongs to a Morris Commercial and one of the tires has the text "Military" on it. What kind of Morris Commercial has this axle? The axle is going to the scrapyard, unless someone is interested....
  9. The amount of these trailers in Holland is increasing rapidly. Good work... look forward to see some pictures of the restoration ;-)
  10. And now one trailer on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220945699397&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
  11. There are some more simular trailers for sale at http://gaf.zeelandnet.nl/generaaltjes/index_test.php?function=show_all Some of these are " Polynorm" and have the same wide mudguards and steel bracket for spare-wheel. The seller doesn't give much more information :-(
  12. Just found these trailer today on the internet. are those original ww2 trailers or not? My first impression (based on the rims) is that they're from Belgium. I already send an email to the seller to get more information.
  13. Our GS-trailer has oak. However someone (don't remember who) told us that ash also would be good. The "new" trailer has a heavy tailgate, that is why we think it made with oak.
  14. This photo was taken in Normandy in 1994. I did see this Guy Ant in this topic. Just wanted to share the picture.
  15. Hello David, I do know this trailer... it standing in our garage. It's our first GS-trailer we completly restored. Our "new" trailer is reasonably complete. Our tailgate will be fixed, so we don't miss much. I think I have a second axle with the hubcaps you need. But have to check. Cheers Arjan
  16. We just couldn't keep away from the trailer :-) The tailgate is removed and also the frontwheel is replaced by a new support leg. Question that came to mind, is if these reflection triangle are original. The round reflector-parts look very simular to those of the T-sign.
  17. You also can visit my site http://www.austintilly.nl for more information. I also can provide pics of my Tilly-restoration.
  18. The Utility were made in production. The Light Utility is based on the Austin Ten Saloon (model 1939), but the door is in fact wider then that of the saloon. I think it's a chop concept from the war. They needed a light utility and fast, so this was the easiest way. They just had to make little changes to the excisiting production line. It looks complete, but some parts are gone. The dash and engine are complete, but the tail is gone. The tail is quit easy to reproduce. And it's been done before.
  19. It's indeed an Austin Tilly. It's far gone and much parts are missing. But for someone who needs some parts is this certainly very interesting.
  20. This hitch belonged to my restored trailer. The original drawbars are still on the frame... Years ago I found the Mk II hitch, and this one is mounted on the trailer. The answer is yes..... the fixing holes are the same. On the 'new' trailer is an extra wheel fitted, just by placing an extra layer onder the hitch. So in theory this could be done with drawbars.
  21. I have 1 tow hitch Mk1 as spare. for my "new" trailer I need the two tailgate-hinges.
  22. I never noticed it before, but now I see where the T-sign is located on the 10 GS trailer. I've placed it on my trailer on the wood of the tailgate.
  23. Isn't this watertrailer an airborne waterbowser? http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?20437-British-WWII-water-tank-trailers where is that trailer now? Is it saved?
  24. The mudguards are homemade. They had to fit other mudguards, cause they converted the trailer to a tipper. Herefore they removed the springs and placed the axle a bit forward.
  25. Just found this GS-trailer in a village nearby. It was converted after the war to a tipper, but reasonable complete (and I had some parts from another rescuemission). Two id-plates were still present. But not the manufacturer :-( There are indeed some small differences to my other GS-trailer.
