  2. Ive been scratching my head as to the identity of this vehicle. I beleive its French but thats about it! Ive found no references to it in any of my military vehicle books. Does anyone have any ideas??

  6. Spot on mate..its based on the Actros. The wrecker is towing the GS version. Looks pretty mean wonder if the MOD will order any.

  8. Sounds interesting..just let me know when and where!
  9. And we also had a hearse!! Great for shopping trips into Nicosia!
  10. Id say the tanker version is quite a rarity. All the tankers during my time were Fodens and then AWD's. I was in the heavy transport troop in Cyprus and had a fleet of mostly MJ's a TK and some more modern Bedfords used for UNHCR runs into the north. We had many variants of the MJ including GS, Fridge Bodied, UBRE, Water Tanker and of course the UGGI Wagons which were the sewage suckers! I had the honour/privalige of driving these. I did all the different jobs but my main ask was keeping the UN's cesspits emptied and dumping the load (no pun intended!!) over a cliff at a refuse tip outside of Famagusta. Best run was to an Austrian OP which was situated in the heart of the ghost city of Famagusta..very spooky! Sorry for going off topic. Ill put my sandbag back now! Anyway i love the Millys and would one day love to have a shot at driving one.
  11. Another pic from 7 sqn rct group on F/B. Mk 1 Militant tanker Cyprus 76. This was long gone when i was there in 92 although the old J Type bedford sewage wagon was still there!
  12. Ive just looked up Fahrschule and it means Learner driver!! Good waggon to learn in!
  13. I agree..always good to see them doing what they were designed to do!! But it is nice to see them preserved and in retirement! Ill have a nosey round for some more.

  15. Heres a couple of pics i nabbed off the RCT group on Facebook... Some more shots of the MK3 wrecker that was in N.I
  16. I love the old Millys (Knockers) and like you say the tipper version is very unusual..i used to drive a 8t TM tipper...doesnt quite cut it against the Milly! I hope it has survived somewhere in the world..its a good testament to British truck builders..look at the Bedford Mj's and TM's that the Army still running. I remember a load of Millys at Colerne in the late eighties in the driver training hanger..never moved and were covered in dust. There is on Mk1 that id be interest to know of its whereabouts..its a wrecker that was working in a yard in Plymouth about 10 years ago..i was considering buying it myself but instead put a fellow enthusiast onto it..i noticed it had gone and never heard anymore about it..it was red and its Reg No. is LAX 40D. I have a couple of pics which ill try and scan onto pc and post on here. Loads of old pics on Facebook..look on Royal Corps of Transport group.
  17. Came across this pic on the 7 SQN RCT group on facebook. No association with pic taker. The caption for the pic says Vehicle park Antrim N.I 1977
