The first place to start is reading the manual! If you haven't got one, buy one. When you've read that, then take some photos and put them on here so we can all see them.

Looking good John, I'm glad you decided to let it live a little longer!

Correct me if I am wrong (I often am: it was a long time ago). Wasn't the ARFAT part of the VRC321 installation? My memory suggests that 353 goes radio - TUAAM - antenna?
Antenna, TUAMM, ARFAT, 353.

Andy, you'll need to find an elevation box from somewhere. Shouldn't be too hard to get it mobile. I have a set of Armstrong dampers if you want them, cheaper than messiers!
Tim.. Those are just the commanders sight covers with the OTIS mount, not the turntables I'm afraid!

If only all problems with AFVs were that easy to fix!

The gearbox uses oil pressure to apply the brake bands. No oil = no gears! I just use standard Diesel engine oil, I think it's 10/40. I suspect filling it up may solve your problem!

John,
I had a thought after we spoke earlier, is the gearbox oil level correct?

It is a modification, not sure when it was introduced but most of the Sabres seem to have it. Our Spartan doesn't though.

My Sabre list is now up to 100 out of 136 vehicles, but none of these are on it.

Bill,
Measure the size and look on eBay. Plenty on there.

No not the name on the instruction manual.

The CVRTs are Spartans fitted with Milan Compact Turret (MCT) - they will have been used out at BATUS as OPFOR vehicles. Looks like they have been dieselised too. What is the plan for them, hard targets?

Clive,
Not spray on, but this stuff has worked well for me sticking down exhaust heat shield material and re-attaching lining material and hatch seals on CVRTs.

Hi Tim,
I think that's the worst engine bay I've seen in a CVRT! I thought my Scimitar was bad. When it comes to cleaning things that mucky there's only one chemical I use.. http://www.frost.co.uk/por15-marine-clean.html - don't get it on your hands as it will dry out your skin, but it removes the oily mess very easily.
Is it up and running yet?

I have a local supplier who is good, but his prices on the last bolts I needed weren't anywhere near as cheap as these guys:

We have been using a jerry can with a generator attachment in our Spartan. The tank was full of water, sand etc when we got it. In the next few weeks I am going to mount a marine fuel tank a bit like Robin Craig did, I'll try and hide it so its not visible from the back door. This should give us much better range, I'm thinking something like 80 to 100 litres should do the trick.

You can order seal kits from Banisters, the seals will probably be a green colour.

Mine starts 25L, but it is a 110.

I'd say its unlikely it will ever be restored. There are good condition Chirftains about that people struggle to sell. Shame though!

Tim,
There are definitely no other rubber parts in the Land Rover master cylinder which could be a problem? Pressure relief valves etc?
Chris
Tank drivers, we need you!!

I think you will struggle to find anyone who does!
