For which variant?

I have some but only one side, I’ll check which side tomorrow.
They are unique and you won’t find a civilian equivalent.

Hi Peter,
There were a number of Foxes sold off without engines. They all had gearboxes and most are restored and running again now.
136 or so Foxes had the turrets removed and used for the Sabre conversion. A couple of Foxes were sold off with Scorpion turrets dropped on top.

You’re going to struggle with any Fox parts. Helston Gunsmiths did have kits to convert a CVRT engine to fit Fox. I only know of one gearbox not in a vehicle, and it’s needs a rebuild. You might have to buy a vehicle in need of restoration to obtain one.

Or maybe because the Wikipedia page incorrectly says they were built by Alvis?
Anyone can write anything they like on the internet, fake news and all that...

Agreed, but was the turret not an Alvis product or is that just another rumour?
I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen that written down anywhere.

Malcolm,
I’ve had several CVRTs, the red light always comes on when the alternator starts charging. You can usually hear a clunk from the regulator panel in front of the brake and steering reservoirs too. Does the Scimitar need a new bulb?

Im sure if you had a lot of money you could get them re-rubbered, but you’d have to get all the old rubber out and invest thousands in a mould tool. You’d also need to replace all the bushes. Remember that the metal in the links wears too where it contacts the sprockets. You’re better off doing what everyone else does and stockpile good used track when you see it for sale.

Designed by Daimler and built by Royal Ordnance, nothing to do with Alvis.

The numbers are allocated in blocks to contracts for vehicles and so do not relate to the year the vehicle was built but the year the order was placed.

The hull number is on the rear near the towing eye, it’s on a small tag welded to the hull and will be SCOxxx. 48ATxx and 49ATxx were allocated to the RAF regiment CVRTs.
-
Ted,
Your vehicle will have been allocated that number when it was uparmoured in the 70s so you won’t be able to find out the earlier history.

LV9ASC is Ferret

Sent it to you in an email.

Do you have Andrew Bakers number? He’s converting petrol vehicles to diesel so probably has petrol ones going spare.
-
I don’t have a spare anymore, but are you looking for a petrol or diesel vehicle?

1 picture = 1000 words, but I’ll leave you to it now. Good luck.

I think it’s not sold because people can’t see what they are buying, and this is especially true if you’re thousands of miles away. If you were going to send cash across the Atlantic you’d want to see the engine bay, that it has both seats, which bins and brackets are fitted, does it have the radio trays, intercom etc? All easy answered with 10mins and a digital camera.
what do you use to cover your vehicle ?
in I may be stupid, but......

Costco tarps and ratchet straps. Replace them every couple of years.
