  2. Hi Folks!

Not sure if this is the correct section to post this. But if not, admin please move to where it should be! 😉

I have just acquired a BSA folding Paratroopers folding bicycle. & There are, as is usually encountered on some of these. Some 'Standard' Bike pedals fitted. which is obviously not as they originally left the factory!

Could anyone assist Me please? With some close-up photos, of the sliding spindle pedals shafts. & Supply dimensions of length, end to end.

& The diameter of the Washer that is rivetted on each end. I will have to make them, unless anyone has one or a Pair, that they would be willing to part with?

Thank you in advance for any Help / Assistance proffered! 👍

Regards to all Fellow Members on here!

Then I suspect I too knew Herr Rheiner as it was in Corunna Barracks that I was walking one day when the RSM fell in beside me.  "Where are you going Sir?" he said, "Across to the squadron office", I replied.  "I don't think so", he said.  "Aren't I RSM?", "No, Sir, I think you're actually on your way to the barber!"  "Oh! OK RSM, I expect I am!".

Rheiner was part of the Fixtures & Fittings In Corunna! He was an EXTREMELY Loquacious character. The RSM Then ( John Bond ) Detested him! 😂

There never was a 26 Armoured Engineer Regiment. There was however, at Corunna barracks, 26 Engineeer Regiment which with 5, 25 & HQ squadrons when augmented by 2 Field Support Squadron, became 3 Armoured Division Engineer Regiment. The history is on the web and, in 1980, my brother joined the REME workshop attached to the regiment and....  I was in the district and knew my stuff. It was not the first time I or my brother were associated with the barracks for in 1955 it was named as Epsom Barracks and we were babies there as my father was the ASM REME of the LAD attached to 3KOH. The barber who cut my brother's hair 1980-84 was the very same one that had given him his first haircut in 1957 and remembered him for the trouble he gave and fight he gave our father in holding him still for hair chopping! Link:https://www.baor-locations.org/corunnabks.aspx.html

My Apologies! yes it was 3 Armd Div & not 26 Armrd. It was a long time ago! 😄 2 Armd Engrs Joined 26 Engr Regt & it LATER was renamed 3 Armoured Div Engr Regt. I was Present for the Disbandment & Amalgamation Parade whilst On Attachment to 26 at Corona Brks.  The Barber was a Herr Rhiner & He fought in the Wehrmacht During the War. I Read His Diary & Handled his Award decorations that he showed Me on one occasion. He wouldn't sell them though!

One of His duties also, was He was responsible for the washdown Point in the Camp. He always talked about the RSM John Bond. As If They were best Mates. I did some Work for the RSM & I can assure you. John Bond couldn't STAND Rhiner! 🤣

  5. I was Attached to 26 Engineer Regt where there was 5, 25 & HQ Sqns at Iserlohn.

The Barracks were Corona but still know by the wartime name of Seidlitz Kaserne. By the local taxi Drivers. I was there from 1975 to late 1977. At which time 2 Armoured engineer regiment was disbanded. & Joined 26 to Become 26 Armoured Engineer Regt. I was posted out a Few months Later.

It would be no surprise if the do wind up W&P revival Ltd,  that would explain why they floated a new Company in April, Blossville Ltd, trading as "War and Peace show", dropping the "Revival" name, ..wait and see what appears at Company house,

What Facebook page is it discussed on?

The Virtual military Show Page on Facebook. You may have to scroll through a number of posts. but MANY Times the 'Show' is mentioned in VERY Derogatory Terms!....The 'Owner' has bought Hatred & Anger upon Himself. Through Greed & Arrogance! & There is virtually now, universally no support for that Once great show! I guess you reap what you sow?......

  7. The topic of The W&P Revival Show. HAS been an extremely & 'Keenly' debated subject on a Page on Facebook!.....The Rumor of W&PR being in bankruptcy not being seen on the site mentioned by Nick Johns. Was ALSO bought up on 'That' Page. It was also explained that it can take TIME for a submission for Bankruptcy Filing. To become Published publicly on a Companies House search.

That is not Me stating this as fact. Just what was put out on the FB page. 👍

Looking for a de act that's cheap please.....plenty around but some are silly money now...thanks in advance.

What would you term 'cheap'. As Your Idea of 'Cheap, may Differ Hugely to someone else? And what Deac exactly are you seeking?

Or are you just attempting to Acquire a Deact 'Cheaply'. To Sell it on for a Profit?

I think you need to clarify exactly what your requirement's are. Or you may get no response?

The site is still green fields; they ran into planning permission problems - as usual, the developer wanted more houses than the council was prepared to allow.

Interesting!  which would mean. An approach by someone who wanted to establish a show with the original values & flavour. Of the ORIGINAL W&P Offering. Would be in a strong position to negotiate with the site owners. Utilising The original recipe of SOMETHING coming into the coffers. rather than NOTHING. is a simple Bussiness Decision to make, surely?..... Just a thought!...;)

  10. The HQ in Herford was HQ 4 Div. 7 Sigs was a 3/4 mile up the road from there!

The barrack blocks of 4 div are still standing But who is housed in them is now probably civilian's!

Across from these Buildings there was a massive green sports field. Large enough for four sperate rugby / football pitches with space to spare.

I lived on the top floor with my Parents in the late sixties. In one of the four blocks of flats that ran parallel with this green field. These were at that time married quarters for service Personell & Thier families. I THINK the name of the main road was Ullman Strasse?  VERY happy memories of our time there! sadly 7 Signal regiments original camp was totally demolished & is now German civilian Housing 😔

I dont think you will get much support for that view. The forced move to Folkestone was unfortunate but prior to that, the show that Rex put on got better every year, at least it did since 1995, first year I went.

The venue at Folkstone, STILL had another three years to run. On the five year contract Rex had put in place. When He sold the show to the , New Owners,

It was the ,New Owners, that decided to move back to Beltring, as they had negotiated a deal with the Hop Farm.

The racecourse venue at Folkstone was left alone for those three years. The last time I passed that venue. it was still untouched!.... We were informed that there were going to be houses built on the site of that particular venue. I dont know if this has even begun yet. But when I passed the venue approx a couple of years ago. nothing had been done at all. I dont know if this s still the case. But if so, there is an opportunity open to ,talk, to the present owners. and enquire if they would be open to using the site for shows again perhaps. Just a thought....

TBH, it was going downhill when he run the show.

There were always going to be bones of Contention with W&P. However, it went STRIDES ahead under Rex's Guiding Hand. Sadly, the 'Present Owner'!!!  has all but Destroyed this once Magnificent show. & Lost the trust of Exhibitors & reenactors alike!  I for one, would LOVE Rex to come back into the fold. & Start another show in the vein of the Original W&P! .... But, that is NOT going to happen!....😔

The brown can all but falls through the cut out in the Mk2 Ferret tray. As far as I know, the Aussie Ferrets used only the .30cal

Browning. The tray looks to be the factory installed one.

Our Ferrets were very early manufacture. Likewise any British made mounts/trays for flex mount were 1950s production, such

as Ferret Mk 1, Saladin  and Centurion commander's flex mounts. Saracen had the same turret as the Ferret with 2 hatches not the early 3 hatch version.

From the replies to my question, it would seem that for some reason Britain decided to go with a non-NATO standard ammo can

when it converted to 7.62mm. Heavens knows why?

In which case, you have the .30 cal ammo tray shelf. The 7.62 shelf as i have described previously. Is for the narrower cans. & has the detail differences i have pointed out. The Brits in the early life of ferrets. used US Made ammo cans. & later BRITISH made wider cans to accept the .30" ammo In BROWN paint. Also metal liners to shorten the length for rounds were inserted. To use these cans with 7.62mm Ammo were also utilised. Until the narrower dedicated narrow made cans came on stream into service.

By the MV crowd, yes... but I think they're trying to turn it into a general 'vintage' show, which might appeal to a broader public which means more visitors etc. so they don't mind losing 80% of the green participants I guess?

In which case, it will be Nothing to do with 'War & peace'. it will be a country craft fair show! IE: Traction & Stationary Engines & Arts & Crafts stalls. Thus confirming most Peoples suspicions. That the present 'Owner'. Is Money Orientated ONLY. & couldn't give a stuff for Military vehicles. & associated Living History. & Re-enacting Buffs!.....

Think they are deluded if they think 2023 will happen. They have lost all support and respect and folks have found better shows to go to now.

Jack, Concise. & absolutely knocked the Nail on the Head!

Once trust is lost, particularly by 'This' owner of W&P. That is it!......

Trying to get my money back now from when I paid back in 2020, but they are only offering a ticket for next year. They say that we are deferred on all monies paid out and all deferred tickets will be honoured for the next show. Let's see where this goes especially as my local BBC radio station is on the case with a gent who also wants a refund and they are refusing to talk to them

    Thier Silence speaks volumes!.............

  19. These people with thier disgusting & arrogant attitudes towards Exhibitors. NEED closing down for Good!!!  They have MORE than proved how Nasty & unhelpful they are. We REALLY dont need these types involved in the Military Show Circuit!

They NEED to be taught a lesson, that you cant go around behaving like this towards People who have paid up front & expect a better. & more professional service!! I think they have now clearly displayed thier Contempt towards Show Exhibitor's. & this needs to be STOPPED!!!!  I believe it only costs £50 to lodge a claim in the Small Claims court. Even if you have only paid this amount originally.

I would advise doing it anyway! These 'People(?)' NEED teaching a lesson!!! & it would send out a message to any in the Minority. Who think they could behave similarly in the future!!

Although once a Brilliant show, after it's Demise there are plenty of other excellent shows to choose from. & they are growing with Popularity. & other shows will emerge also. This is too big a Movement to be allowed to Die! 👍
