  1. Has anyone got, or know of for sale. A Wheel brace for the US WW2 1 ton Ben Hur trailer at all?

Just the wheel nut section would be fine on it's own TBH.

    Thanks in advance.

    Mike.

  2. Just been directed to this:....The page has the W&P Heading Logo. It's too big to post on here.

I'm corrected that it is a Dutch Ownership Leader now. Make of it as you will, though obviously there will be a LOT of scepticism & Bitterness out there?

Be good if it is genuine though?

New Venue. New Dates. New Team.

    Wishing you a fantastic 2024!

The War & Peace Show is in the process of updating its website.

Stay tuned for details on the new showground and dates for upcoming events.

We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to reconnect with all of you soon.

Best regards, The War and Peace Team

  3. Hi everyone. I know a lot of Us mourn the end of War & peace. But not the end of it's greedy owner!....

OK, I heard from a friend today, that the 'Show' has been purchased by a Gentleman in Holland?

I cannot confirm this information personally. But has anyone else heard similar? It would be great if it were resurrected & be back on the show circuit!

W&P was My Annual Holiday, as I know it was for many others too. I do miss the 10 days annually at Beltring!

So, anyone else heard this? Or have any update / confirmation?

But most of our old cars and MVs use(d) tungsten non-halogen headlamps, so I guess this rule does not apply; certainly won't apply if common-sense prevails and we have much better lighting at less demand on the charging system.

    On a Lighter note.....

Matchless's quote of 'If Common sense Prevails'. Really did make Me smile!...😁

I mean, 'Common Sense linked with a Government department!...REALLY?.....🤣

  5. Absolutely Disgusting Dave!  I feel your pain! I once had one of Jacks Brand new 9x9 tents stolen at a War & Peace event. I had to leave overnight & return the next Day. The filth removed it that evening in the early hours!!!!

I hope these are recovered? The replacement of them would cost many hundreds of pounds!

Good luck, & Let's hope the Thieves get what is Due to them Justice wise!.......

Internet Archive (  archive.org ) has a copy of this ,  quickest way to find it is to Google the manual reference TM 9-883 .

That's great! Thank You Very much! ;)

  7. Well, I after a right 'Saga' with HMRC. I finally got my N0VA Certificate! The to-ing & Fro-ing, has delayed things somewhat!...

Now I am ready to register my 0wn WC56 in the UK. I am asking if a fellow WC56 0wner can assist Me?

Would you be able to Scan or Copy, Your own Registration Document for Me? obviously I dont need to see your name & address!

0r the engine & chassis numbers. But a shot of the Doc will show Me exactly what, & not what to put on a registration application form.

This will save time enormously, & prevent Me from submitting incorrect details. & risk having the application rejected. & wasting even More Time! ( A sort of case precedent if you like. So DVLA Cant Potentially wiggle out of registering!... )

You are welcome to do this via PM. If you do not wish to post that on the forum publicly.

I would value your assistance hugely! Thank You in advance.

    Mike.

  8. UPDATE!

Well, this Morning, I FINALLY received the copy of My N0VA Cert!

What I found 'frustrating', was. The fact that I had had to repeatedly send the same Documents to different 'representatives' at HMRC!

It came across to Me. That it is entirely Possible these 'People' are 'working from Home'?... Because it was apparent they dont look at each others Computers? & quite possibly, no inter colleague communication! Hence asking for the same Documents. Sometimes More than twice!..... Which had resulted in an Unessacary drawn out 'Process'!..... :(

Still, I have the required doc now, & can begin the UK registration Procedure!

Would I import another vehicle into the UK again in a Hurry?......Er...N0!!!!!

Did you strip your torsion bars, and if so, how?  I've been side-eyeing mine for weeks now trying to figure out some reasonable way to do that.

0n 432 APC's. At one end of each torsion bar. It is drilled & Tapped with a female thread. There was an insertion / removal Tool used. Approx 4 Feet long,  which could be VERY easily replicated. Basically, it was a 'T' shaped stem & handle from steel round bar. With a screw thread on the end of the stem. Which matched the thread hole in the end of the torsion bar. Excellent for inserting the bar, lift it up inside the hull. To the correct position. To fit the spline holes in the hull.

I have never had to do a CVR(T) Torsion bar myself. But would imagine the same type of tool t have been utilised? It makes sense! 😁

Looks like it's all done online now: Importing vehicles into the UK: How to import a vehicle - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

If the import company are doing it, or you're a VAT registered company it can be done direct into the NOVA system.
Or if you're doing it the process is different

If you’re a non-VAT registered company or private individual

HMRC will make a NOVA application for you, but you will need to make an import declaration and send it to HMRC by email.

You can also get an agent such as a freight forwarder to make an import declaration for you. They may make the NOVA application for you as well.

Your vehicle needs to be added to the NOVA system before you can register it with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). Email the following to the HMRC CARS team so that HMRC can make your NOVA application:

    • the C88/E2 customs documents for your vehicle (except if you brought your vehicle into the UK through the Channel Tunnel or by ferry)
    • the invoice or bill of sale for your vehicle, or a current valuation from a third-party such as a garage or dealership in the UK (it cannot be an online valuation)
    • any official document which confirms the VIN or chassis number of your vehicle (for example, a registration or title document, or an export certificate)

    HMRC CARS team
    ecsm.nchcars@hmrc.gov.uk

That is very Helpful, Thank You very Much!

  12. A couple of days ago, I imported a dodge command car from Italy. I had a Transport firm over there ship it for me. I paid the Import Tax & Vat required by HMRC.

To register in the UK, I understand I need a N0VA Cert from HMRC to do this?  Can I get in Touch with HMRC?... N0 By Phone? It tells me it is ' out of action due to tech problem's!.... Personally, I think this is a Lie, & they dont WANT to actually speak on the Phone. As it is much better to be not contactable. & then they can issue a fine for even M0RE Money. From People, so the Gov have More funds to pay the Monthly Hotel Bills. To Accommodate the ILLEGAL Migrants who Flock here!....

The Gov. Website is VERY unhelpful. & Call Me stupid. But I find it very confusing & difficult to contact the right department!...I just cant get in!...

As the vehicle was imported by the Shippers. & They handled the paperwork. In theory, HMRC Should know I now have the vehicle. & all Taxes HAVE Been paid. So, will DVLA accept the receipt invoice I have. Having paid these taxes to the shipping agent . So I can begin the process of registering my Vehicle?

I am getting concerned, as it states I only have 14 days t declare for N0VA. But I simply CANT get in touch with anyone at HMRC!

PLEASE can anyone assist Me on this Difficulty' with 0fficialdom?....
