  1. Other than markings, history will be difficult although I can tell you the date in service, original engine number, date out of service and where it was struck off census. If this was OSDD Ruddington I will have the date of sale which will differ from SO and maybe have the price paid.
  2. GM Hans where is that painted, what colour & what size? It could be the vehicle callsign. As for markings with abrasive paper gently rub down the external paint on the sloped armour looking for divisional and unit badges, also maybe Union Flag and small red circle on white square. Search also on rear doors and above them. Side doors may have callsigns and sometimes Pigs have a yellow bridge class disc painted on each door. Sadly many owners have sent their Pig to be sandblasted and destroyed clues to its history.
  3. Sorry Paul I am talking nonsense I entirely misread your post. I got up very very early and bouncing along in very fast coach, reading is very difficult as one arm of my reading glasses has broken off. It's difficult to hold my glasses on and read the phone. Sorry
  4. Yes check electrical connections and switching also ensure that no covering of drive shaft is crushed and motor is struggling. Should be possible to repair, brushes would be first susoect. BTW surely the part no is STC3070?
  5. Paul many of these dealers don't actually have them in stock even if you were that affluent. If you do find a dealer with one be certain that it really is the correct thing. About ten years ago there was a dealer up north who was selling supposed Wolf motors which were in fact only 12v. He assumed they were 24v because the RF filter was rated at 24v. I did give some support to the misled customer but I don't think the seller would budge on his assertion that it was a 24v item. Sadly this was from a dealer with a good reputation otherwise.
  6. Dan it appears that I have most of those on your list. BUT they are in microfiche, I seem to have those listed on my phone. But printed AESPs are on another list not here. My recollection is that all these are for Patrol and Ambulance Patrol.
  7. Can't tell you what I've got as I don't have access to my AESP list at the moment. Saxon Patrol had a big bulge at the front to accommodate a Cummins engine and was widely used in NI.
  8. Well done Hans that is a good job done, hope you managed to get the torsion bars set correctly. You needn't worry about rear bench seats, there weren't any as yours is a FV1612 ie FFW not a personnel carrier FV1611. There was minimal seating for the operators which would depend on the wireless sets installed. It would be different still if it was converted to FFR.

    .

Advertising 500+ military vehicles, sounds impressive. I pressed the enter your MV button to see if it was still a pay to exhibit venture, but it just gave me a 404.
  11. Might be worth taking it around to a local coach builder supplier & see what they have. I used to live near a branch of Jaggers & have found some useful bits. They are online, I've not searched but you might find something. https://www.albertjagger.co.uk/search-results?q=springs
  12. In November 1980 GKN Sankey Automotive Operations published Fitting Instructions for 3/4 Ton GS Land Rover Protection Kit FV984568 These were scrutinised & amended by Vehicles Branch REME in April 1981. In July 1981 HQ NI noted that the instructions were time consuming & over complicated. Modified instructions were drawn up including detailed drawings of particular parts as well as timed procedures in modifying all aspects to old & new vehicles. The summation of all this is that it took 70.1 hours for an old vehicle & 75.5 hours for a new vehicle. An 'old' vehicle is one that was previously fitted with VPK as fitting just the GRP to an old vehicle took 8.0 hours but to a new vehicle 15.2 hours. These GKN Sankey instructions are for conversion to HV Protection Kit (Piglet) There were further instructions for fitting side door/front protection plates in March 1982. For the original GRP VPK I made the mistake of looking for modifications but it was an installation and is covered in EMER WHEELED VEHICLES Q 025/14 Installation Instruction No.4. This publication may well include the spring. I can find EMER WV Q 025/13 for the Lightweight but I don't know about the hatch similarity.
  13. As an aside it is rather quaint that MT survives. The original intention was that Mechanical Transport (MT) was differentiated from Horse Transport (HT).
  14. Yes I've lost the reference now Alec but in the book I saw they went to Catterick in 1993 (Interesting as I thought the book only went up to 1992!)
