  1. At midnight of 14 August 1967 the Marine Broadcasting (Offences) Act came into operartion heralding the demise of "popular" music as we knew it. http://web.onetel.net.uk/~uncletony/pirateship.htm On 14 August 1969 something much more serious happened in Northern Ireland. 1330 The RUC Inspector General requested the Ministry of Home Affairs request military aid in support of the civil power. 1500 The RUC were exhausted & the USC were mobilised 1500 The Prime Minister of Northern Ireland requested the British Prime Minister supply troops. 1630 The British Prime Minister & Home Secretary agreed to send in troops. 1700 British Troops (1st Battalion The Prince of Wales's Own Regiment) crossed the River Foyle to enter the Bogside in Londonderry. The rest is history as they say.
  2. It wasn't designed for that, but I could take it to the Purbeck Rally & find out for you.
  3. The plunger is shown fully extended, when it is depressed into the block it becomes latched & is held down halfway in. When the side lever is pressed laterally the plunger is released up with significant force.
  4. Is there much left of the ambulance? I see it has that RAF style power socket so that the batteries are always on trickle charge. I met someone at a show who was after one of those. Are there any other fittings? Often people buy ambulances striped of the fittings by the previous owner who threw them out went it went into camper mode. So fittings etc are often sought after.
  5. Yes, but probably not in the way you imagine.
  6. Why does everybody think everything I post is to do with Humbers or sanitation? As it happens, yes it is.
  7. Here's a view from the otherside.
  8. And what are they doing in the back of a RAF 2/4 Stretcher Rover Ambulance?
  9. I've looked through what I have got but I can only conclude it would contain vast amounts of books, manuals, forms, catalogues esp Manuals of Army Ordnance Services, Vocabularies of Army Ordnance Stores, Materiel Regulations for the Army etc, lots of clip boards, telephones & typewriters & I don't think you could go far wrong.
  10. Nope, but you are correct in realising the central rod has a pushing effect.
